We present to you our 3rd compilation, Cube, a set of 8 tracks that, as usual, go in different and intriguing musical directions. 

We welcome a brand-new group of artists to the label: Anatolian Weapons starts it off with a slow acid burner; Azaria follows with a hypnotic trance-y track; Ruksby picks up the tempo with an acid-infused EBM heavy-hitter; WLDV gets dark and dirty with an Industrial/EBM smasher; Kidaudra offers a high-tempo monster; Orchid delivers a fun electro-italo track; the recently formed Oblako Maranta project contributes a haunting leftfield track; and Robert E. Livingood wraps things up with a lo-fi psychedelic new wave track.

She walked amidst the corridors and the back rooms, through the walls she could hear the rumble of the crowd gathered in the tiered seating as they observed some of the finest dancers and gymnasts in the industry. She was nervous, it showed through the tense, precise fashion in which she moved and the grimace on her face as each person passing smiled her way. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, something she had dreamt of with eager excitement since she was very little. However, now as she stood beneath the towering concrete of a fabulous stadium she began to wonder whether she really was the flexible girl and the dancer all those people thought her to be... It was a tall order. 

Pedro Vian is set to release a new album on his own Modern Obscure Music, the Barcelona based producer has a fierce reputation for producing high class electronic music with an individual twist. The package comes with formidable remixes, one of which is from Cardopusher.

With recent releases on Snap Crackle & Pop, Bordello A Parigi and Dischi Autunno, the Italo American brings something a little darker to our party – four cuts of EBM influenced madness. Bone crunching snares and B-Movie samples sit atop shimmering synth licks that will be right at home on a wide variety of modern and retro dance-floors.

Vilnius-based label Electric Shapes is back on our platform and this time featuring an interesting 8-track compilation gathering a multi-genre top-notch selection of international artists: Tassilo Vanhöfen, Jokios Kultūros, WLDV, Disco Mortale, Radial Gaze, Feller (SXDNS162), Wounded Planet and Konsistent form the team brought together for the EP. From Balearic and Downtempo to Cosmic Disco and Indie Dance, the release managed to amass competently an enthralling combination of styles devoted to bringing pure delight to our ears and feet.

The track we chose to premiere is a BOMB! Disco Mortale is the new alter ego of Daniel Monaco (SXDNS137/FREEDL006). The name was born due to the many releases under the moniker Daniel Monaco and the need of separating his Italo, Tropical, Dark Cosmic productions from something which can be described as obscure and acid, more EBM & New Beat-influenced. 

For “Unreleased Territory”, Daniel… erm… sorry… Disco Mortale provided “Acid Funk Planet”, a weapon of mass destruction full of acid and distortions that proves the necessity of creating a new alias to share such a different theme from what we had been used to when it comes to his previous works. And according to the man himself, “Mr Mortale will deliver only groovy obscurity with sharp basslines & drums intended to bringing chaos to the dance floor. The name speaks by itself. Expect more releases and remixes to come during this Summer, Fall and Winter 2020.”

Vilnius-based label and platform Electric Shapes starts 2021 with the second volume of its acclaimed compilation series “Unreleased Territories”. Featuring an interesting selection of artists from all over the world, such as Jokios Kultūros, Kolomensky, Tassilo Vanhöfen, Facets, Fabio Me Llaman Soltero (SXDNS187), Neud Photo, Anastasia Zems (SXDNS169), Anatolian Weapons, Volta Cab, Wolfstream, and A-Tweed (SXDNS222), just to name a few, the release invites you to this true musical trip through the depths of this mesmerising concoction of sonorities. 

We have the privilege of reviewing the contribution of one of our favourite producers: Ukrainian Volta Cab, currently based in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is acclaimed not only for his productions but also his live sets. His many an influence allows him to competently flirt with several music genres. This time, he decided to go for something more cosmic and trippier. The melodic bell-like lead allied with the atmospheric pads and the arpeggiated synth layer provided a hell of a theme, definitely one of the highlights of the compilation.  

We finish the review with a beautiful message from the label team: “We really hope you enjoyed this musical trip through different parts of our magical planet. While we’re stuck inside during this crazy pandemic, we wish our music has helped you to escape, at least in your mind and soul. Stay healthy and stay alive!”
