Mogambo knit together a heady, hypnotic sound from the many enigmatic strands of Asia’s musical cultures: the deep traditional instrumentations of Siam and India, the high-tech edge of modern Bangkok, and the rich Goan bloodline of trance. The results are both otherworldly, yet instantly comprehensible. 

And now the duo, consisting of producer Sunju Hargun and multi-instrumentalist Jerom Doudet, returns with the latest missive from their own aptly-titled Siamese Twins Records:  Urvi (उर्वी).

The much- anticipated follow-up to their sought-after debut 12” Cobra (कोबरा) is a multi-layered sound bath, as versatile as it is visceral.  Urvi ranges from meditative sonic explorations to fearless entrancing rhythms and basslines, tangled together from the mysterious East.

Listen to this new track by hitter ALPHONSE, who is a steady source for breakin bangers and distinctive production for years now. With STILL EYE he is part of an excellent compilation curated by Bristol based producer REMOTIF. On his own label FAMILIAR STRANGERS he is releasing that pack of very dope tracks with the aim of raising funds for the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

IRC is currently assisting with emergency resettlement for Afghan refugees. Afghanistan is the single country most at risk of deteriorating humanitarian crises in 2022, and 100% of the profits from this release will provide uprooted families with tents, clean water, sanitation and other basic necessities.

The VA Compilation STRANGER TOGETHER will be out on the 4th of March and can already be preordered via Bandcamp

NEW HIT: Alphonse - Still Eye [Familiar Strangers]

There were strange shapes scattered across the sky, they were a reminder that they weren’t alone out here. Floating through the night sky towards a destination unknown, she watched from a little window at the flickering stars and the dancing comets which weaved between the shadowy clouds and murky black.

She had once thought that space was a scary place but not now. How could she when it was now the only place left to call home? Perhaps that was the same with all fear – it was simply a case of inhabiting it, living amongst it until the threat began to disappear and perspective was realigned.
 
Night Defined is an Austrian electronic music label based in Salzburg and founded by Juergen Vonbank. It has evolved over the years having released an eclectic array of music from the likes of SW, Șerb, Eduardo De La Calle and more.

The latest split EP to emerge on the label features tracks from Mesak, Nurah, Mary Yalex and Even Tuell. It is Mesak’s which we bring to you today.

‘You’re only as young as you feel’, they always said. She firmly believed that to be true. No matter how many birthdays passed or how many new lines appeared on her face, she felt the same as she did at 21. Her passion for life and love remained, so did her need for adventure and new experiences: she knew whatever was thrown her way, she’d always be young at heart.

Next up on London's Of Paradise, they welcome Warsaw duo Private Press for their label debut as part of their White Label series. Having previously released EPs for the likes of Indigo Aera, REKIDS and Ziema, alongside fellow Polish producer Earth Trax, they deliver another full throttle take on 90s rave and techno across four tracks. Young At Heart is yet another bold and euphoric release that's driven by their shared love of hardware.

Shanti Celeste's nostalgia-flecked house sound has been tantalising listeners for the last few years and if it's bumping basslines and killer groove you're after, she's your girl.

We've got the premiere of of 'Nu4Him' which is taken from her 'Alma' EP and you can expect majestic synths, rolling percussion and sensual vocal slurrings. It's got all the makings of a Celeste banger and we love it. Check it.

Premiere: Shanti Celeste 'Nu4him'

Destino is a new experimental side-project by Yuksek, who debuts it on La Belle Records with two innovative tracks and a remix by Alek Lee.
Over a career that spans more than 12 years, Yuksek has released three albums and many EPs next to making movie soundtracks. He is someone who lives in the studio and this new project finds him in there making beats for hours, all on the fly. “It’s just about looking for textures and not worrying about genres, tempo or length of the track,” says the artist.
Opening track ‘Louis’ is a perfectly intoxicating summer cut with cosmic pads drifting about above a slow motion groove. It’s languid and horizontal and designed to bliss you out with the sparse percussion and pitch shifted vocals adding to the effect.
The masterfully hypnotic ‘Isla Grande’ is another super laid back effort with slow claps, pixelated synths and psyched-out guitar riffs that carry you off into the cosmos. Starry eyed and golden in colour, it’s a late night track of the highest order.
Remixer Alek Lee is a much-respected producer who has released EPs on the acclaimed Antinote Records. His take on ‘Louis’ is tender but more driven, jumbled, organic drums bring the groove while warped and saturated chords add heat. It’s spooky and subversive and rounds out what is a genuinely inventive and original package.
