Guadalajara-based producer Luis Fernando aka Ludviq has been having a busy 2021 so far delivering a solid string of releases on acclaimed labels such as Emerald & Doreen, HEARec, ODD Pleasures, Quixotical, Maleante, and his very own Bonkers. Now he lands on the mighty British platform Nein Records with a five-track EP divided into two well-carved originals and three out of the box remixes made with love, witchcraft & darkness by Man2.0 (SXDNS081), Hanzo (SXDNS065 along with Yaman), and Pino. The latter is kind of paying off a “debt” with Luis: On “Pitchtek”, Pino’s latest EP on Nein, Ludviq was one of the remixers.

The curious and unfamiliar title of the track we were requested to premiere drew our attention and led us to make a quick research on the web to find out its origin and meaning: “Udhëtim” is the Albanian word equivalent to “trip” in English. Suitable: Both the original and the remix are quite trippy indeed.

For his interesting interpretation, skilled Tbilisi-based producer Konstantin Kandelaki aka Pino combined acid and percussive elements with fat and robust arpeggiated synth layers, the result is a more throbbing and to a certain extent less misty version when compared to Ludviq’s piece. Well, we liked both. Dinosaurs are famous for fancying good ol’ music trips.

The words were hard to come by, she'd sat in silence for what felt like hours trying to articulate herself but it was impossible: words continued to fail her. She stared at a fixed point on the wall, unable to pull her gaze away, hoping this focus would bring with it a sudden brainwave. His eyes burned into the back of her head, his patience wearing thin now. She knew talking was the only logical solution, but it was easier said than done.

Oddball Fantasies is a new label springing up from Brussels way. For their inaugural release they've called on the talents of Invisible Inc and Chambre Noir producer Puma & The Dolphin who delivers an eponymous four-tracker of organic, rhythmic delights. Described as "a ritual dance to take you to other worlds", the collection of psychedelic slow burners and enchanting grooves pull from dub and leftfield, and are just as suited for home listening as soundtracking hazy late nights on the dance floors.

EXEM is one of the most famous electronic music bands on the Lithuanian scene, formed in 1992 by Mindaugas "Cross" Kazakevičius and Matas Petrikas.

In 1997, EXEM released their third album called Stereo. A track called Africa became historic when it reached the first place in the TOP40 of the national radio station M-1. It was the first time in history that a Lithuanian artist reached the NO 1 position.

Drum Tales is a new upcoming name in Lithuanian alternative scene. “Distorted Faces” is his debut on Good Skills - an EP coming out August 2023. Three very different original tracks and remixes from greats, who don’t require further introduction - Autarkic & Zillas on Acid.

Three originals show full spectrum of dance music and perfectly sum up sound of Vilnius nowadays. We’ve got oldtown vibe lyrics-driven indie track “Distorted Faces”, a big room banger “Inner Voices” influenced by Vilnius’s uptown scene and “Waiting for the Sun” which is somewhere in the middle.

So let us introduce you to Drum Tales. He’s here to stay. Apart from serving juicy bangers, which he produces on Fruity Loops, this dude can cut your hair or pour you a pint at the coolest bar in the heart of Vilnius. Definitely someone you want as a friend!

Last year also saw him inaugurate the Dutch label Charlois with his 'Blackbox' EP, which he's following up with the release of 'Hornet Green' on 1st October. POW! The Bird Of Paradise features alongside other avarians, but the stand out slice is this weird, religious shuffler from mysterion Obb Globelyn. Like the finger snaps, it lures you in to it's mazey musica. Patted soft bass and synco riddims, cultish cants and flip rewinds make this beauty feel a little sordid. In a nice way, for your Sunday blues.
