Bubbling beneath the surface of Japan's emerging underground scenes, Osaka based artist Paperkraft has passionately developed his craft, immersing himself in the culture and championing a new wave of Japanese artists. With the rise of genres like UKG & bass in neighboring cities like Kyoto - it’s the progressive and house movement Paperkraft is concerned about. Although more niche in his native city, developing a sustainable scene and championing the sounds he loves is the ultimate goal.

First introduced to HOMAGE through friend and breakthrough producer Stones Taro, Paperkraft referenced releases like Aldonna’s Morph EP as the catalyst to send his demos, and who subsequently remixed ‘OK Corral’. The Melbourne based producer has since toured frequently both in Europe and in her home country of Australia; continuing to put her own stamp on the underground and lending her expertise to remixes for the likes of Benjamin Fröhlich and Rosa Red.

Inspired by sounds from the 90 - 00’s, and essential to the overall essence of his music, Paperkraft blends the old with the new. This duality can be found in the opening track ‘The Amazing Spaceman’ where liquid drums foam over contemporary sound design. ‘Dizzy Disk’ kicks things up a notch, holding on to that same old-school-new-school duality with an extra dose of dopamine for good measure. Manchester’s Aiden Francis lends his signature sound to the remix, with elements of breakbeat, trance and electro, showing why labels and clubgoers rate him so highly.

Breakthrough tracks’ like Papekrafts’ ‘Dimple’ which was released by HearThug’s Are You Alien label gathered large support, and made a special appearance on Manami’s Boiler Room Debut; laying the foundations for tracks like ‘OK Corral’ to take shape. The infectious vocal sample coupled with jam-like riffs give off the vibe that it was done in one take in an act of pure enthusiasm, with that same energy lending itself to the dancefloor. Aldonna’s remix adds a balearic and emotive touch, while ‘Stella’ rounds off the EP with a left leaning cut perfect for low capacity clubs and sweaty, dimly-lighted rooms.

Demi Riquísimo has collaborated with close friend and fellow producer Manami on his sub-label A Lifetime On The Hips. The release see’s Demi Riquísimo and Tokyo born Manami link up on two new originals, accompanied by stand-out remixes from Subwax owner Baldo and prolific Italian DJ and producer Matisa.

The fourth release on the sub-label it opens up with the EP’s namesake 'Sugar Snap’ a dreamlike record that effortlessly blends ambient textures and celestial melodies, yet remains primed for the dance floor. Following suit, the A2, 'Interstellar,' aptly lives up to its name, enhanced by cosmic soundscapes that transcend traditional boundaries.

Barcelona based DJ, producer and label owner Baldo takes the reins for a remix of the A1, delivering a spacey rework infused with breakbeat elements that breathes alternative life into the original. Meanwhile, Italian producer Matisa works her magic on 'Interstellar,' transforming it into a lively organ-driven roller with a more playful bounce to it.

This old car had miles under its belt, it had been to fields and warehouses all over the South coast in the search of dancing and delight.

It was the hunter itself, powered only by the mischief of its passengers.

Retromigration channels elements of House, Trance and beyond on a fast and furious new EP for Handy Records. However, beneath the pace sits a deep rooted groove which can be hard to place without careful consideration and handling. This is a producer in top form.

Striking a rich vein of atmospheric dance music on the latest record with Convergence founder Kosh. Chameleon biz from a producer operating right at the intersection of Midwestern and New York styles, OYSTER55 traverses lacerating electro, rugged house trax and freestyle pressure with ease.

Possibly the meanest we’ve heard from the Moroccan scene flag-bearer, opener ‘Human Condition’ sets a menacing pace. But if that one batters down doors with some hurtling electro-breaks, ‘The Chopper’ opts for sleek aerodynamics and dappled, luminous hues. It’s another example of Kosh’s restless, breaks-fuelled ballistics, but this time deeper, more immersive.

Back with more urgency, where ‘Come On’ recalls the baddest freestyle Latin electro, ‘The Zinger’ closes proceedings on an anthemic tip. In fact, neither would have been out of place on NYC labels like Nu Grove or Nervous Records, highlighting Kosh’s capacity for skewing classic styles to his distinct design. It’s exactly the kind of material you’d expect for a producer that first coming to prominence on Casa Voyager, where exquisitely crafted dance music has become their trademark.
