Dalmata Daniel presents the sixth instalment of their DDS split series, manifesting a relentless torrent of raw, bumping beats and electric thunderbolts: Kraków-based Olivia brings her otherworldly sequences and hazy reverberations, while hailing from Tel Aviv, Rapha delivers acidic treatments and sinister, menacing tones of a dark, untold future.

Side A opens up with ’Freak’, where Olivia’s swirling synth arpeggios quickly aim to enchant all listeners, tangling up their brainwaves with several layers of wicked, throbbing beats. Continuing her witching hour, ‘Odejdź’ introduces off-kilter pulses, cries and whispers in a dungeon, where no one can find the exit. Echoes tremble and screams get distorted in the dark, moist and uncanny aisles of these non-Euclidean spaces. Hyperbolic and demonic, hypnotic and manic: ‘Odejdź’ puts ashes in our eyes and takes us to places we never thought were possible in this bleak realm of our world.

Flip the record, drop the needle and let side B commence: Rapha opens up with ‘Aggressive Disorder’, a hip hop-infused marching beat with cosmic howls and blasting basslines. Next up, as a gargantuan machinery of steam-fueled engines, ‘Bomber Jacket’ takes a confident, industrial maneuver at demonstrating nasty, scattered pieces of percussive grit, simmering its way to a textured and refined amalgam of rough and frantic pulsations. Closing the split release, ‘Access Point’ elevates the voyage to outer space: fresh and squelchy electro patterns kick in right away with sweet, rumbling lower frequencies, and while you may enjoy the interstellar ride with stardust in your eyes, don’t forget to watch out for potential alien screams and growls behind you in the cabin; they should come as no surprise if DDS06 is the OST to your personal, gruesome, galactic adventure.

Agressive Dissorder

TL PREMIERE : Rapha - Agressive Dissorder [Dalmata Daniel]

The enigmatic New York-through-Brooklyn producer takes us by the hand and leads us through the darkness, forcing us to feel our way to the light with the aid of an intricately woven tapestry of industrial textures and bodies of metal.

Whilst at first the buildings threatened to topple him, the lights to blind him and the traffic’s hiss to penetrate right through to his bones, he now found himself at peace with the city. Realising that he himself made up one part of its hostile landscape – his body litter on the pavement and his breath pollution in the air – he wondered what it meant to live in harmony with one’s surroundings. Did his apartment floorboards cry as he moved across them? Did the tram ache with the the heavy load of every day? He resolved that the city was necessarily a place of angst, and in that knowledge he found clarity and comfort.
 
Rookley presents the ninth addition to the Aimend catalogue – the imprint he established in 2017 as a platform for the moody atmospherics which he produces as meditations on the city as place and environment. The 7-track LP entitled ‘Playground’ is at once introspective and outward-facing, casting the intimate sensation of human flesh as well as the alien hardness of metal. Translated in three singles already made available, this at times sounds like mournful synth swells (‘Garage’) and at others clattering breaks and confused vocal fragments (‘Run’ and ‘Parasite’).

A hard-hitting, syncopated beat lends ‘Panic’ its driving propulsion, maintaining its solidity as other percussive layers are drowned in reverb. The track reaches a climax with the help of choral wails which build under Burial-esque ambience which is seemingly identifiable yet composed in a way that makes it bizarre.

Jetztwelt is a label created in the early days of 2020 by Benedikt Schmidt to house his entire artistic heritage, which is not only based on his musical work, but also combines other disciplines such as literature, as Benedikt also uses this medium to publish his books of poetry, as well as artistic impressions of artist friends.

Benedikt Schmidt's most prolific and longest-lived musical project is Cellarkalt, an alias under which Benedikt has been working since the late 1990s. Under this nickname he started experimenting in the basement of his parents' house with the creation of strange sounds, recording experimental tracks and sketches directly onto cassette tapes. The choice of instruments and toys may have changed over the years, but Cellarkalt's approach remains the same: Cellarkalt is DADA and DIY. It is poetic and imperfect, strange and raw, sometimes even psychedelic. Cellarkalt speaks through the noise of machines.

"Neues Licht an unbestimmtem Morgen" marks the beginning of a series of Cellarkalt releases on Jetztwelt. The album features 10 tracks in which the artist explores from different sonic approaches his aptitude to create from corrosive atmospheres to other spaces in which he plays suggestively with the listener's mind.

From a research work started in full lockdown three years ago, finally sees the light (or darkness) Echi Senza Fine, a remastered collection of sound material by Tasaday.
Inspired by the controversial media story in 1971 of the discovery of a tribe in the Philippines that apparently had technology that had stood still in the Stone Age, the project officially borrows the name Tasaday in 1984 from the evolution of Nulla Perreale, in turn union of Die Form (musical part) & Orgasm Denied (performative part).
To put it in the words of Marcello Ambrosini, the Tasadays find in Die Form the controlled destruction of the form after its careful design and construction, while in Nulla Iperreale the spontaneity free from any possible superstructure. They declare themselves new primitives, not in the perspective of a nostalgic return to a pre-industrial or prehistoric external world, but in the exception of an inner experience in stark contrast to the leviathan of the single utilitarian thought that has dominated the West for centuries.
Their production-action does not allow itself to be tempted by the repetitiveness used by many industrial groups of those years, thus resulting seminal in the evolution of the scene. Their impulse to go further and not remain caged in the format of the new wave is witnessed by their particular sound vocabulary that sees, along with the use of conventional instruments, the use of DIY tools such as Chopper Vox and highly sui generis tools, like the Camolofono, cariole loaded with sheets, stones, tubes, chains and "garbage" of various shapes and sizes. A discography dotted with primordial electronic experiments that reaches the new millennium through several vinyl records and an endless number of cassettes. From this undefined and mysterious number of tapes that is born Echi Senza Fine: 14 tracks (+ 2 digital bonuses) remastered, collected by Asymmetrical, who also edited the release insert, a collage of visual and textual material from their fanzines. For the first time on Codek, Steppin' Wolf - Come Up, You Fearful Preacher is a 4 track ep with a dark slow tempo vibe.
Steppin' Wolf originally from the Black Forrest near Switzerland and now residing in Frankfurt who's music production style can be
described as Techno, House, UK breaks to obscure Cosmic. He has previously released on labels such as Kann and Pauls Musique and a self released album in 2020.

I met Steppin’ Wolf aka joshi in 2013 through his father, the owner of the last secondhand books shop in my neighbourhood here in Basel, Switzerland. Joshi told me about tracks he’s producing so i visited him in the Black Forest mountains in southwest Germany in a little gingerbread house where he was tinkering around on his laptop making tracks. After getting him a set up of Korg USB Kontrollers things started to pick up and he kept sending tracks over the years. A few weeks ago i asked joshi to make a DJ mix of his tracks and send that to sasa in London, sasa picked the four tracks for the upcoming release called Come Up, You Fearful Preacher by Stepping Wolf.
