Hayes Bradley is a composer, producer, and DJ who works across dance music, ambient, and film scoring as well as curating sound for key fashion brands. He has DJed at major events, including Insomniac’s Forever Midnight NYE Festival, as well as in Tokyo, Berlin, and New York. He formerly toured with Kaytranada as part of his American Dance Ghosts group and released his debut EP, ‘These Things Take Time’, back in 2017.

He has since released three albums, including the critically acclaimed ambient debut ‘1-9’ via Secular Sabbath Records, and two ethereal follow-ups, ‘Anywhere For Now’ & ‘Recommence (I/VII)’. Now he joins L.A. label Stratasonic for his latest musical adventure. This first single is a taster of an eclectic and adventurous forthcoming album, which pairs widescreen progressive, melodic broken beats with introspective songwriting and peak-time club euphoria.

Says the artist, "'Total Call' is personal chaos. Chaos, most people try to mask by acting normal. If you're crying or fucked up or panicking in public, you try and cover it up. I think everyone should just lean into whatever they are feeling and care less about the people staring back. The drums and synth pulls are masked by a common guitar riﬀ. But in the end, the guitar sound vanishes and you're just left with who you truly are. Whatever that may be, so probably just be that."

'Total Call' bursts open with gritty, raw guitar riﬀs that drive straight into thunderous breakbeats built for peak-time intensity. This visceral release of inner tension features sinewy synth lines twisting through the chaos, with a potent bassline that keeps the pressure high. It's honest, unfiltered, and sure to electrify any set.

Clouds were sparse yet every time he caught a glimpse of one he’d try to create a mental image or a sense of perspective as to what they were, floating against the backdrop of the opal sky.

He imagined a great dragon, a frightening beast roaring through the sky with a mighty myriad of colours cascading from its magnificent wings.

It was all magic up here.

For ASC006, we have 4 deep tracks from 1/2 of Ascension, Jim Brown, treading the lines between house and techno.

The first track, ‘It Was at the Mountain’ kicks this EP off with crisp basslines, stripped back minimal grooves, and twisting tops. This one is dance-floor focused, and haunting vocals provide the deep and dark vibes you know and love from Jim. Second is ‘Lost In Karst’. Strap yourself in for this one – these aggy kicks will rattle any rig. Paired with spinny vox chops and raspy synths, this is one for peak time, guaranteed to spin out the dance. What Jim is all about. Next is ‘(g)round 7’. This track is brought together with rolling basslines weaved under steppy drumwork and percussion. Subtle atmospherics also sit in the back of the track, bringing an unsettling feeling – a feeling that isn’t resolved, and doesn’t leave you until the track is done. The last track of this EP is ‘Conscious Soil’. Jim takes you deep on this one – immersive pads create unparalleled vibes for the first half. Don’t be fooled though, this isn’t an easy going track. The second drop takes the energy right back up to 100 with rattling subs and in-your-face kicks.

Jim is flying the flag for our label and sound, which we truly feel embodies innovation. These are 4 tracks packed with experimentation, all whilst being rooted on the dancefloor. No nonsense, deep and atmospheric - special stuff from Jim.
