Israel’s hottest export follow up excellent EPs on Hivern and I’m A Cliché with a 3-tracker for the global psychedelic cult of Multi Culti.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, with rich sound that is musical, deep, trippy and organic, while remaining precise and lethally effective in the club. The range in their sound is impressive, their talent unmistakeable. They are one of our favourite artists of the year, and this latest record is one of their best yet.

Lead track 'Waiting for a Surprise’ builds around a mid-tempo disco bassline, with tough percussion, and rugged synth stabs, but it’s the eerie and unique sounding vocals of Brazilian collaborator Abrao that bring everything together. This one is a guaranteed bomb for building up, tearing down, peak time or chilling out… an outstanding track in every sense, the kind that force trainspotters to the DJ booth to discover what’s playing. Next up, ‘Hope’ kicks off with resonant, delayed toms, adding a haunting howl and synths before dropping into a wild, clanging, carnivalesque frenzy. It’s understated, but advanced, with an interesting arrangement that really opens up in the second half. Finally, 'The Metal Bender’ slows the tempo but ups the vibe into an elated, slow-burning space-disco anthem. Fantastic stuff!

Melbourne’s Kris Baha, fresh from launching his Power Station imprint, offers a stripped down remix of ‘Waiting for a Surprise,’ with a heavy, industrial-influenced groove that wanders into the deep, dark end of party strasse.

Geode - Warped Extends

The mountains roared as the planet crashed towards the sun amidst the harrowing sky. Grey and white flashed monstrously past as the stars distorted the clouded vision of the blackened evening. Planet Zagan had longs since been in trouble. It was only a matter of time before it finally crashed in a blurry ball of chaos with the fiery energies of the great fire. The time had come, and Zagan would cease to exist for any further forward. Zagan was gone.

The tape machine crackled and popped as the system whirred into life. The hiss of electrics reverberated and an image began to flash on the screen. It was blurry, distorted and messy. It reminded him of a far more simplistic time, a time in which the tascam loop was king and this new age era of electronics was yet to exist. He missed the tascam loops.

The clock made barely a noise in that busy office. It was but a piece of background detail amidst the shouts, cries, phone bashing and flabbergasted employees of the Wall Street building. The crash had hit them all hard but they hadn't expected it to necessarily be as bad as it now was. Time was absolutely of the essence now, and they had to find it once again to ensure the future of the company remained upheld and afloat. Find time is never easy, but now so, it was more difficult than ever. 

Here is the latest release from the Axe On Wax sub label Axe Traxx. It sees the Australian duo Sonderr offer up three tracks as part of an interesting EP which also features a remix from Mall Grab.

The beams of gold cast a warm glow over the fields of long reeds which blew in the lazy wind. From this day forth the tribe would live in sweet harmony with the lush countryside of Hayal, its fruits, offerings and provisions. They were home.

A small clearing sat amidst the forest at the base of the mountain and the sunlight pierced through a gap in the trees. The heat bounced off the side of the cliff face from above and the rocks glinted under the rays. A small fire burnt in the clearing as they prepared themselves to begin the long climb to the peak of the mountain. The forest of Floresta had simply been a resting place, a precursor for the journey which lay before their feet. Hopefully, some day soon, they would be looking back down on it from above with fond memories. 

Here is a track from the forthcoming Silvestre EP which is set for release on Diskotopia at the end of April. The Portugese born Londoner recently founded his own imprint alongside his friend Renato titled Padre Himalaya.
