Street lamps flashed past in a blur of orange and yellow; the low hum of the car engine the only sound piercing the air on this quiet evening. He'd forgotten how good it felt to be behind the wheel; to have the breeze rustling through his hair and his foot pressed down hard on the gas. On a night like this, when the roads were deftly silent and barely a soul walked the streets, it were as if the city belonged to him; every street, every sidewalk and every corner was his for the taking.

London's Vief Records took a break from releasing EPs earlier this year to share their first charity compilation, which raised funds for Refugee Action. Before the year draws to a close they're bringing out their second offering, once again bringing together their nearest and dearest for a charitable cause. This time the label are raising money for Trussell Trust, a charity working to stop hunger and poverty by providing a network of food banks across the UK and vital, immediate support to people in crisis. The music oscillates from uk bass and breaks to jungle experimental and leftfield techno, and features 20 producers including Simkin, Izzy Locke, Scaefa and Shauna.

The EP features remixes by El Fulminador, Tarmac and Chica Andina, flowing from rhythmic experimental music to slow techno jams and dubby chords with a dark reggaeton touch. The lyrics are inspired by an old German riddle.

Utopyk & El Fulminador are a duo from Spain and Argentina based in Berlin. Their music merges dark electronic beats with vocals in Spanish, German and English.

This new EP contains 7 different versions of the title song, remixed by artists such as Niels Poensgen, Hobo Baggins, Substak and El Fulminador. The original version of the song belongs to the forthcoming album “2011”.

In terms of style, this release explores different sides of slow techno, taking you through a journey that starts with melodic dubby remixes and end with dark abstract suites.

The lyrics talk about how the relationship between people and environment change with the construction of new buildings and the transformation of urban spaces.
