Following a stellar run of releases and contributions from the likes of N-GYNN, LVCA, Thoma Bulwer, Voigtmann, Dawl & Desert Sound Colony, the transcontinental Superlux imprint announce their 8th edition by way of Paul Blackford’s ‘Weekend Warrior’ EP.

There was a degree of serendipity in the genesis story of the ‘Weekend Warrior’ EP. When label head Mike Gill’s wife Ines posted a video of him playing a Blackford track from deep in the crates, it quickly found its way to Paul via happenstance and the way of the web. Upon Paul sharing his entire back catalog as a token of appreciation for the support, the conversation started moving towards a contribution to the label.

Following a trawl through Paul’s extensive library of electro WIPs both new & old, four were selected for a mixdown in Thoma Bulwer’s studio. The result is the ‘Weekend Warrior’ EP.

The release speaks to the talent and versatility of Paul Blackford as a producer. The EP employs elements of classic Detroit electro & Drexciyan soundscapes with facets of modern house fit for an afternoon at Houghton. A truly diverse release suited to many moods and record bags.

Nathan Micay introduces a new label into the Schvitz family: Eternal Schvitz, a home for re- issues of those most rare slabs of wax. The inaugural release offers a sampler of coveted tunes from the fabled Baby Blue Records run by Chris Simmonds between1990-1993. Almost impossible to find, these tunes have become a thing of discogs legend, offering up a snapshot into the label's short but memorable run. Lovingly re-stored straight from the DAT tapes of yore. To fight the evil no-ID-DJ forces currently at work, every release will be providing 60% of the cut to the artists and ensuring their credits are front and centre. The remaining 40% of profits will go to aequa, a Berlin-based collective with a focus on empowerment of women, trans and non- binary folks through gatherings for interpersonal exchange. Schvitz is Love. Schvitz is communal.

Across three tracks Fio Fa illustrates why he is one of the most vibrant artists to watch, exploring a blend of progressive and rave inspired techno through to down tempo cuts. Violet flips the unhurried aesthetic of 'Transcending Into Nonsense' in favour of stirring breakbeat rhythms, twinkling soundscapes and calming melodies.

The mall was crowded with people, they weaved and wandered their way between storefronts enjoying mindless consumerism at its finest. All of a sudden there was a parting of the crowds as a young man sprinted down the corridor towards the exit. In the distance a security guard could be seen chasing helplessly as he shouted "ho!" in the mere hope of encouraging the thief to stop. Onlookers laughed, chuckled and cheered, this was to be there afternoon entertainment, as bleak as that was. 

Steve Marie is set to release a new EP for the newly launched record label Philoxenia, it's a club focussed affair which doesn't take itself too seriously. We dig it and reckon you might hear it in a club near you soon...

Mr Telephones pumps up the pace, jumping drastically from his last downtempo-oriented "Point Breaks / Beach Breaks" EP. This time closing in on the 150bpm mark, with the raw pump of "Blue-Tek", a funky oddball-roller hybridizing ghettotech, detroit soul, balearic and italo house. Flip wax for the trippy soundscapey ambient techno-trip "FV555", speeding through a hazy highway, with the forest on one side, and ocean on the other. Both sides neatly wrapped up with trippy reprise-versions. Pressed at 45 for max flex!
