Muy Muy’s third release continues exploring Mexico City’s incredibly deep pool of talent, with an EP of slow burning, melodic techno from a staple of the scene: Mijo. 
A frequent collaborator with Rodion, Rex the Dog, Bryan Kessler and Sascha Funke, to name a few, he has an impressive discography under his belt for such a young artist.
Coming from a traditional musical background, this solo EP is a departure from Mijo’s club tracks that he has become widely known for, offering a darker and more subtle approach from this multi-faceted artist. Another EP for the times, these slow burning tracks are heavy on textures and melancholic memories of the long after parties that sometimes stretched for days in the hectic, chaotic, yet eternally beautiful capital that Mexico City is.
Our choice was ’Batucada’ - collaboration with chilean artist Persona, almost 7 min techno thriller, excellent weapon for 4am mindblowing peak hour dropping.

Anatolian Weapons starts of the compilation with a mystic edit of “Days of Future Past”. Kompleks follows him with more energy on “Revolution, Revolutions”,  a love child of dark, tribalistic synths. From there we let our homegrown heroes Aaron Maple and Miro-Benji take charge and steer us further into the night. Aaron puts the pedal to the metal with his rendering of “Ethno-Techno”, that continues the tribal road that Kompleks led us onto.  Miro-Benji give us a final punch of summer with A-Danze. Proto house with a hint of trance bongos (whatever that might mean) in a piece that’s worthy of one last dance in the night.

Days Of Future Past (Anatolian Weapons edit)

“I’ll have another”, he slurred, leaning like a toppled monument against the stained mahogany. As the bartender handed him the frothing jar of foggy brown fluid, the drinker’s eyes flickered asynchronously. His crotch was soggy, the stench forming an invisible force-field around his lump of a body.

Steve Pepe has a preference for album-length works. He is yet to release a 12” single, instead releasing LPs: one on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs in 2018, the other on Lyon’s Macadam Mambo label in January this year. His second album of 2020 comes on Inside Out records and is called Vivere in Diagonale: “Living Diagonally”. 

As you might expect, the sound is slanted. Its beats stomp with lead-heavy boots and damp-jeans dub echo, always leaning to the leftfield. Our premiere, 'Oltraggiosa Musica', sounds like slapped-bass jazz funk on 33rpm. In reverse. Played by a medieval Italian coven. With most tracks stretching to a seven minute meditation, the intoxicating effects of slow time - conjured to a heavily sedated rhythm - are revealed.

Drunken military men, learned to forget, tough meat and sour wine, re-counting cracks, gray back, shadow of hunched gray backs, walking holding walls with eyes and shoulders down, swallowing dust, outcasts, orphans, yellow faces, worn cuffs, stuttering, crowds of freaks, rotting markets, starving rats in search of a way out, naked to the waist, a creature without muscles and bones, dirty cup. Follow the flowing water parallel to ditches and gratings. Weigh again to what extent you are indifferent to everything. Urinals, Russian restaurants. Protected by the even wear and tear of clothes, by the inexpressive steps.

For a gray person, gray does not mean any gray.

Wall-colored leper, sometimes you look like a cow.

The full moon lit up the road, casting a brighter glow than the dim street lamps that bordered each side. It was her nightly ritual, watching the comings and goings from her window, hoping to catch wind of a neighbourhood drama or some strange activity only carried out during the nocturnal hours. But nothing stirred, not even the rumble of a car ignition or a stray cat sniffing out its next meal. Everything was quiet, peaceful. Too peaceful... 

Next up on Massimiliano Pagliara's Funnovojere Records, lovingly named after a small beach in southern Puglia, is an instalment from London-based producer Harsh Puri under his Reformed Society alias. Joining the likes of Rotciv, Armonics and James Booth on the label, Reformed Society brings a collection of raw, harmonic synth cuts that blur the boundaries between techno and house. With the first drafts getting the seal of approval from the Guv'nor himself, the late Andrew Weatherall, you can be assured Cosmic Perspective's celestial synth melodies will have you beguiled from lift off to touch down.

PREMIERE: Reformed Society - Sci-Fi Love Story [Funnovojere]

Sinchi Collective crew member “Hary Shanthi” is a  deeply earnest sound designer and a lifelong student who experiments with technology believing in the "Art of Equalization" and "Management of Varied Frequencies" paired with intense attention to the "Art of Crate Digging". He sees DJ’ing as an “Art of Philosophizing”, the objective nature of truth in music and its alleged communication of its meaning to the human consciousness. This investigation is manifested through his personal interpretation of sonically rich enigmatic tracks which lead the dance floor through journeys not spoken but still told.
