Well its been a while but amongst the many studio sessions of working on other artists releases as well as lots of video & visual creating we are pleased to shout that our very own Sprechen CEO Chris Massey aka 'Massey' has found the time to drop his 3rd release on the label with 'It's Stretford, Not Berghain'.

Inside My Head sees the mutant disco flags flying high with a twisted Italo synth bass melody of epic throbbing proportions partnered up with the squelchiest of ear worm style synth stabs that goes truly into head mess territory. A proper 2am, peak time serotonin spanker that sounds like Roman Flügel Geht's Noch? having a session with Fad Gadget.

Named after the legendary party spot in South Manchester (if you know then you know), Gnome Terrace sees Massey step into jacking house territory with an initial deeper journey that features some suitably cosmic-esque strings & synth work form the legend that is Dan Wainwright! Oh and it all explodes in a massive hands aloft piano breakdown for a hefty dose of 'wooooowweeeeee!'

PREMIERE: Massey & Dan Wainwright - Gnome Terrace [Sprechen]

In the mystical realm of Melodica, the renowned music producer Bozzwell Bradley ruled over the vibrant domain of the Voodoo Discoteque. This enchanted studio was a haven for both mortal musicians and magical beings alike. Bozzwell possessed a rare gift for infusing his music with the essence of the fantastical, creating tunes that transported listeners to realms beyond their wildest imaginations.

One moonlit night, a shimmering figure named Aurelia, a celestial being from a distant star, appeared at Voodoo Discoteque 68 Records. Her ethereal voice resonated with the power to bend reality itself. Captivated by her celestial melodies, Bozzwell offered to collaborate with Aurelia, eager to channel her divine essence into his enchanting compositions.

As their musical collaboration unfolded, the studio transformed into a kaleidoscope of magic and wonder. The melodies they created unleashed a cascade of sparkling stardust, painting the air with vivid colors. The very walls of Voodoo Discoteque 68 Records pulsed with celestial energy.

News of this celestial collaboration spread like wildfire throughout Melodica, drawing creatures from far and wide to witness the ethereal spectacle. Elves danced with glee, unicorns pranced in rhythm, and dragons hummed harmonies that resonated in the hearts of all who heard them.

The enchantment that Bozzwell and Aurelia wove together was a testament to the boundless power of music. It united beings of all walks of life, bridging the gap between mortal and magical, and reminding them of the universal language that dwelled within their souls.

In the end, the music of Bozzwell Bradley and Aurelia became legendary, forever etching their names in the annals of Melodica's history. And the melodies of Voodoo Discoteque 68 Records continued to echo through the ages, carrying the magic of their collaboration into the hearts of all who listened.

Dusting off some old Dat Tapes in Bozzwells Studio, this hidden gem was found  forged above  a spoon factory at Stag Works, Sheffield by Bozzwell and Chris Bradley, (Lex Records artists and Lights Down Low promoter ) , Voodoo Discoteque throbs.

Released on 68 Records on 22nd May and streaming on all digital devices.

On Versions, Queralt and Smith’s four tracks have been reimagined by Nandele, Flug 8, GLOK (Steve’s RIDE bandmate Andy Bell) and Nina Walsh, kindred spirits and treasured members of the extended Bytes/Ransom Note family.

And so I walk along the beach, turning my back on a world that’s stopped making sense, and the feeling that maybe sense is the first thing to go; before our civilisation falls, it will stumble through a long delirium, like an old man with Alzheimer’s, before it finally grinds to a halt … I’m trying to turn my back on all that, before me the great unknown, the poetry of the magnificent blue distance … to gaze out at the blue and open myself up to that which is beyond us, to let the blue beyond wash all that away like pebbles in its foam …

Bytes is proud to announce Sun Moon Town Versions, a companion piece to last year’s EP, on which Steve Queralt, bass player of pioneering shoegazers RIDE, joined forces with the writer and film-maker MIchael Smith for a stunning four-track EP featuring Steve’s music and Michael’s spoken-word musings.
 

On Versions, the four tracks have been reimagined by Nandele, Flug 8, GLOK (Steve’s RIDE bandmate Andy Bell) and Nina Walsh, kindred spirits and treasured members of the extended Bytes/Ransom Note family.

Premiering here is the GLOK remix, continuing Andy’s hot streak under his electronic alter-ego, which has seen him deliver stunning remixes for Dot Allison, Maps and A Place to Bury Strangers. For his rework of ‘Chaldean Oracle’, Andy eschews Michael’s vocal almost entirely, transforming the track into a Detroit dub-techno monster that has echoes of Bandulu and Carl Craig in its shimmering melodies, eerie distortion and pounding drums.

As well as these four new remixes, due to popular demand the release also features instrumental versions of the original tracks, with fans keen to hear Steve’s exceptional electronic soundscapes in isolation. It’s out on July 21, available digitally and a limited edition cassette, only available from Bytes Bandcamp.

Justin Robertson’s new Deadstock 33s EP takes in dub to motorik chuggers via the dark basement club. We’re premiering the lead skank of Sticky Web of Happy Spiders.

Deep in the heart of the forest, Justin Robertson’s record played a mysterious melody that echoed through the ancient trees. The Deadstock 33 beat was magical vibration coursed through the forest floor, summoning a swarm of happy spiders. These mystical arachnids weaved a glistening sticky web, spun with strands of pure joy. As the music intensified, the spiders danced on the strands, their tiny bodies pulsating with rhythm. The web stretched higher and higher, forming a bridge that led to a hidden realm. Curious adventurers crossed the bridge, stepping into a world where dreams came alive and music held the power to unlock unimaginable wonders.

Coming in blazing-hot off the heels of their very welcome reunion set for the recent Glossolalia LP, Dave Aju & The Invisible Art Trio are apparently out for no mercy here on their potent Elbow Grease debut for the label’s third offering. “Next 2 You” was a live jam session-based composition started overseas some 8+ years back in an earlier incarnation, with raw-edged flavors and deep voodoo feels of the OG underground era that has now been unearthed and blessed for pure dance floor detonation by the elusive LA-based musical squad.

The A-side Original Mix is yet again an extended multi-layered rhythmic voyage of driving vibe-led hypnosis, loaded with rising modal chants, fiery free jazz horns, otherworldly percussion literally orbiting around a solid throbbing 909 framework, and grinding low-end funk pulsations via a sub-octave 303 bass line woven in at the core of the piece. The generous EG release recipe also gives us the lethally mixable, wetted- up, and straight to the percussive point B1 Stripped Dub version, as well as an endlessly unfolding beatless Reprise on the B2 primed for any DJ set moment in need of a mesmerizing impactful lift on the flip.

The trio states this work was inspired by the concept of an ancestral poli-sci-fi twist on VanderMeer’s Annhilation where ancient Incan mystics return in undetectable form for revenge on their colonizers, while sonically channeling the cosmic lineage of core spiritual jazz astral travelers such as our recently earth-departed Pharoah, along with respectful nods to the master teachers from the D. “Next 2 You” indeed.

It’s been a year since Francis Inferno Orchestra’s last hit for Superconscious Records ’Harmony’ shredded it’s way into record bags across the globe, Now, twelve months on, he returns with his latest 12’ 'Oasis and A Time'. The A-side consists of two versions of the lead track ’Oasis'. The 'Celestial Body Mix’ which is a dreamy uptempo dance escape, and the 'Erotikk Mix' which gives a nod to early Italian DFC records and the sounds of Deep Forest. On the flip, 'Mating Rituals of the Eastern Suburbs' is a devoted chant to the humble inhabitants of the suburb of Burwood in Melbourne.
