The fourth release on Anna Wall's label marks Sunrom's debut. “I am not inspired with the daylight” says Sunrom. “I prefer the night to the day. Everything is peaceful and people are asleep. It gives me a feeling to be alone, especially when it’s really late”. It is perhaps the peaceful surroundings of Saint-German-en-Laye in France, where Romain Nouhi AKA Sunrom resides that has encouraged his creative wandering. The city is a quiet place not far from Paris, with a beautiful Chateau and forest surroundings. 

The EP kicks off with “Spirale”; delightfully uplifting and playful, weaving colourful melodies intricately together. “Pray” takes a more pensive and wistful turn. On the flip Copenhagen’s Paxton Fettel has remixed “Superfly” full of feel-good piano riffs. The final cut is DJ Normal 4’s version of “U Doing”, a dreamy breaks number that wouldn’t sound out of place in the golden era of UK rave. The original versions will be released digitally later down the line.

Following last year's 'Kiyadub' EP, Andrew Weatherall returns to Byrd Out later this month with a brand new 12". Having invited his mate Andy Bell (y'know, him out of Ride) round to his studio to buy a Les Paul, Andrew suggested that he test the guitar out over a track he was working on, which then became the b-side here 'Making Friends With The Invader'.

We're very happy to be premiering the title track 'Blue Bullet', a trippy, dubbed-out construction with a surprisingly affecting melody which tunnels under your skin and refuses to leave.

There was a strange taste in his mouth as he walked away from the table upon which he had eaten dinner. There was a bitter sense of harrowing gloom which hung fierce above his head and the taste of pili pala kisses were all that was left upon his tongue. Walking between the dense city streets he began to wonder why life had turned out this way. Was it his fault? Was it merely a game within which he had simply been part of a masterplan? These questions troubled him so...

Doppelate is a producer whom we have watched with a keen eye as of late, an up and coming talent from London with an interesting take on house music and more.

He braced his lapels sharply. Yes, this is it, he thought. Admiring his reflection, he saw a picture of health and success. The lights in hotel bathrooms had a dreadful tendency to cast a deathlike pallor across the face, and this one was no different; he momentarily broke character to remind himself he isn’t actually the colour of diluted mustard. One final splash of cold water, one final nod of encouragement, one last straightening of the tie, and he was ready. Through the gap in the door bled the din of the Santa Ana Swing, muffled and half-present, like a memory of a song from one’s childhood. To the elevator, then; the party had already begun.  

M.ono's searing 'Santa Ana Swing' is lifted from a new VA compilation, 'The Blaq Bunch Vol. 2', assembled by German label Blaq Numbers. Comprising 16 tracks, the release is available on cassette and digital from August 9th.

“Look, I’m not saying… I just mean…” the details were as blurry as the walls and the faces. It didn’t matter. Ironically, the fog which shrouded her most immediate memory was thin, and she could see its centre clearer than her present surroundings. Though it was getting light outside and, on this randomer’s shabby couch, she felt as though she’d become cement that was always never quite dry, she was compelled to head back out into what remained of the night. Just one last time. It was undeniably preferable against being trapped at the wrong afters with someone pretentious.

PAS, following A-Side AD, is the second of a new two-tracker by Peckham's FYI Chris. Entitled Snod Hill, it's set for release on August 7th.

Drawing upon the fine sheet of paper he wondered whether he might one day present his work in a gallery far, far away. That was to be the dream but it seemed that little cared for the delicacies of his artwork or craft. Running in circles he continued to sketch nothing but an endless spiral, a loop within a loop which might never meet a graceful end. The clouds moved slowly across the sky as he gazed softly out of the prison cell window towards a free world...

Sunrom is set to appear on The Bricks with a finely tuned EP packed with twists and turns. House music in top form on a recently launched label by London disc jockey Anna Wall.
