The sandy dunes lined the sides of the great river. Green reeds could be seen blowing in the breeze above the swirling mists of the water below. Fighting the current they clung to the bed of the Nile, gripping for life so that they might not be swept away by the raging waves. The great heights of the pyramids looked down on the scene below as a voice cried out loudly in the blackened air. The Egyptian night grew still, a voice across the nile was all to be heard.

Disco Halal continue their profound run of form and ever growing release schedule as they offer up three reworks of TCP. Moscoman steps up to take on an exciting approach in 'A Voice Across The Nile'.

This month saw the release of a collaborative project on International Feel. 'The Sound Of Glades' is a joint effort of Jan Schulte and Niklas Rehme-Schlüter: a collection of ambient soundscapes, subtle pads, field recordings and soft drums. Jan Schulte aka Wolf Müller has amassed a reputation as a crafty producer without borders. From worldy percussion, eccentric wobbles and soothing melodies he has honed his sound, undpredictable by nature, each record is often different from the last. We caught up with him following the album release for an assorted mix of music which inspired the record - "music to do the sound of glades to" , as he puts it.

Wolf Müller: The Ransom Note Mix

Fresh from providing Futureboogie’s pivotal 50th release back in March, Christophe leads the charge on the label’s annual Summer Riot compilation EP, now on its sixth installment.  On “West Side Critters”, a bold and brooding kick drum that the early acid pioneers would be proud of, tethers a malleable acid bassline to its stable pattern, whilst incessant cow bells, distant tom hits and metallic piano chords pep up the production for another class track from Christophe. The Mexican duo, Zombies In Miami, have impressed for labels like Love On The Rocks and Correspondent over the years, and bring their own brand of spiritual dance to the Summer Riot party.  A collage of colour erupts on “The Legends Of The Hidden Temple” premiered here, with sitars, guitars, vocals and synths all weaving their magic over a chugging house beat with a bubbling acid underbelly. Formerly one half of previous FBR recording artists, Lizards, Lee Forster teams up with Ollie Warriner (Tunnyl Records) for a their new Forriner project, contributing the excellent “Spero” to the comp. Warming pads glide over lazy percussive beats, as a piano motif holds the breakdown before kickstarting the track to its glorious groovy finale. Bringing the Summer Riot VI to a cosmically charged ending, Yuki Tosaya channels the spirits of 1990’s ambient house in a superb track titled “Acid Dawn Breaks”.  Chugging, transcendental house at its finest, Tosaya teases 303s, piano riffs and cascading synths in a production that will no doubt see the break of dawn at many gatherings for a good while to come.

The train was parked stationary in the distance. The metallic frame looked out of place against the scenic backdrop of the mountain peaks. The rusted wheels were crusty and orange, the paint of each carriage flaked and tattered. There was an ancient myth as to how it had ended up here, abandoned and ruined amidst the leafy pines. Many years had passed since it had entertained the glamorous guests and passengers of ancient days. It had once been a thing of beauty. It still was really, in its own way. 

Arne Spremberg is set to release an EP on his newly launched record label Domum. The Chalet regular has built a reputation as one of Vienna's finest and the EP is accompanied by a remix from our good pal Man Power.

After Cook Strummers' debut album 'The Fall', LOK Recordings' seventh release represents four different interpretations of its single 'Fallen'.

The original song by the Belgian singer, songwriter and producer has been reshaped by Marco Resmann, Sasse, Ryan Crosson and dOP.

Each one of them delivered their unique version of 'Fallen' and made it possible for us to present an EP full of surprises.

Acid Pauli is back with another four-track EP on the label he co-manages with friend and collaborator Nico Stojan. 
This EP, self-effacingly titled 'Had to get rid of some shit', showcases Martin Gretschmann’s dancefloor prowess yet again. 
'Dancing In The Trunk' is a hyped-up loopy banger - minimal in instrumentation but fully psychedelic in execution. 
'Goran Utan' has a deeper, darker edge, with a tension that will tighten the grip on many dancefloors. 
'Shakmat, but happy' appears in 'Pauli's Psychedelic Breakfast Take 9' and is a slow-building, loop-based groover, eventually opening up to reveal tinges of acid. 
Lastly, the digital exclusive 'Edging in den Trunk' is a slower bomb - shuffling percussion and drifting arpeggios provide the lightness to this exquisite cut, which is based on the lead track 'Dancing In The Trunk'.

Leading Mexican label Duro welcome countryman Rigopolar for four of his fantastically expansive and expressive disco tunes.

The now US based Rigopolar is a cosmic explorer and space sound aficionado with credits on the likes of Tom Tom Disco dating back five or so years. His mix of disco and techno has taken him to gigs round the world, podcasts for Soma and remixes on the likes of Beat is Murder.

Brilliant opener ‘Black Mantis’ is a spooky cut with a mysterious lead that takes you into a mystic forest. The drums move things on as sci-fi sounds and withering synths add details to this most evocative musical story. ‘Espiral’ is a colourful, psychedelic scandi-disco classic with looping arps taking you ever further into the stars. Its craftsmanship is second to none as it draws you deeper and deeper in.

The scintillating ‘Time’ is another lush cut with plenty of glistening and glowing synths. Always ascending through the mix, they lift your spirits and hands in equal measure while the deeper drums keep your feet moving. Last of all is ‘Crashes’, a slower and more melancholic track that is paired back to a steamy vocal and rolling drums. A poignant one-finger melody brings tenderness to this brilliantly introspective closer.

This is an exceptional trip though timeless disco with a difference.
