Riotvan no. 10 – what a nice jubilee! And a perfect catalogue number to take a look at our back catalogue up to now and at the same time look ahead at the things we might cast in vinyl at some point in the future. Riotvan isn’t just a reflection, but also an inherent part and impulse in the electronic music scene of Leipzig. Gathering the inner circle of the Riotvan cosmos on one record for the first time, thus, seemed like a very logical step.

So RVN010 is the first so-called Various Artists in our roster. At the same time it marks the beginning of a new series, which will regularly lead our close and new friends on the field from now on.

This issue features: Good Guy Mikesh, who buffs up tapered sound sequences into the little slo house gem “Sparkles”. This is also the first new track on Mikesh’s release account ever since his EP “Year of The Horse”, which came out on Riotvan as well.
Then there is the hyper-dynamic “Marque Di Yard” by routine sidestepper Panthera Krause, which ogles with broken beats and should whet the appetite for his second Riotvan EP, due to be released soon. With “Perlenkette”, Filburt drops his first solo work in the label history – a tenderly whispered track from alien spheres with hit potential not to be underestimated.
Afterwards, Jennifer Touch, who recently released a project with Keinemusik’s own Adam Port on Pets Recordings, returns to her solo roots, delivering sleepwalking synth pop melancholia. Here, too, a new artist EP on Riotvan is in the making. If there’s one label which can be ascribed a certain like-mindedness towards Riotvan, it’s undoubtedly Permanent Vacation. Therefore, their puppet master Benjamin Fröhlich rounds up this compilation with “Star Fox”, which steers a middle course between direct and self-forgotten house bounce. Finally, on “Walking In Melbourne” Llewellyn plays out those house sketches which might be a bit too stringent for his alter ego Lake People, obviously not without infusing a fathomless deepness to its floor aptitude.

Paper Recordings' resident failed superhero and beat maker Flash Atkins is welcomed with open arms (and a can of deodorant) to the Sprechen fold with 'Cold Oak Smoker'..a straight up simple builder of a track that gets under your skin & into your disco shoes.

Long time supporter of the label and good friend of ours Sean Johnston dons his Hardway Bros makeup bag and delivers us a straight up ALFOS makeover of Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation which is straight up E music for peak time behaviour & shenanigans. Imagine 6am sunrise tackle at Barbarellas in Croatia and you're pretty much there.

Closing things off is our head boy Massey with Leeds super dude Andy Buchan (here as Massey & Buchan) who's collar piece 'The Climber' does exactly that, climbs & builds & climbs & builds before exploding into a massive laser reaching crescendo style breakdown (of sorts!) with soaring vocal textures from The Night Giants. early doors, peak time or set closer? For the first release of 2013 we are happy to welcome back the Australian duo Trinity & Beyond. We've had them aboard in 2011 so it was about time for them to return.

Trinity & Beyond is a collaboration between the lovely DJ Trinity and multi talented producer John Tzineris. With combined forces their productions are from an exceptional high level. In 2012, they've had a release on the Pinksilver label and they were also involved in delivering some quality remixes. Their remix for Nadja Lind's 'Brain Candy Remixed' album for instance was featured alongside remixes by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, D. Diggler and Dub Taylor. Trinity & Beyond were in good company to say the least.

Having had quite a nice year it only makes sense for Trinity & Beyond to release another EP filled with new originals. All three original tracks are a perfect blend of moody melodics, groovy basslines and perfect percussion which results in beautiful productions. Additionally there is a remix by Ina Becker, who has made her debut on Cinematique last year. She transforms the title track into an uncompromised dancefloor filler while Australian producer Child slows it down to an off beat deep house version.

Mario & Vidis, the top Lithuanian House duo, is back with a real treat. A solid remix package to follow up the original release of their perfect-set-closing track of summer 2012. Even though all ticking at the same tempo four different remixes and remixers on the plate represent a wide spectrum of moods and styles. From Garage and Bass infected sounds of up and coming Lithuanian producer Darius Vaikas, via Miami Bass rooted Dub version of steady groovin’ American Danny Daze, to golden French Touch era reminiscent slick grooves of German combo Trickski, and summery New Disco vibes of two Lithuanian comrades from Downtown Party Network.
