The process was delicate, intricate and had become at times hard to juggle amidst a busy backdrop. However, now as he stood atop the building, looking outwards upon the great city beneath him he knew that the time had come to begin his performance. Between the towering skyscrapers he would walk, without fear, constantly moving forwards into the glow of the sunlight. This was a balancing act, walking a tightrope between existences was no small feat and as the people looked up from the streets down below he knew he was the one to show them that this life could be more. 

Mirror Touch is a newly signed artist to the Metamorphic imprint run by Dan Curtin. This track sounds like it could come have come straight from the golden era of mid nineties house and techno. Raw analogue sounds, with deep soul and a raw underground aesthetic.

A game of cat and mouse had unfolded in the neighbourhood, the illusive character seemed to be everywhere but nowhere at all. They'd left their mark on many households, on shops and on street corners, but whether these were well-meaning or a sign of impending danger, nobody knew. South London-based label and party PROGRAMM have been busy cooking up lots of exciting things for the year ahead, starting with a new white label series, 'Untitled Series'. Their second label outing following last year's inaugural VA - premiered here - the first 'Untitled' release comes as a VERY limited run of 10 copies on 10" lathe cut plates, with hand etched artwork on the reverse. Don't sleep, these will be gone before you know it. And, if you aren't lucky enough to nab one, keep your eyes peeled for round two...

The thin winding streets were adorned with all manner of trinkets, gadgets and souvenirs; you could get everything you needed from these stalls, if you were willing to look hard enough. Without a plan of action, you're guaranteed to get lost, to come away with things you never needed, to spend money you didn't intend to. Haggling was the name of the game, and once mastered, this place could become your oyster.

After the success of their inaugural release from Breaka, Manchester-based platform Off Beat follow up with their sophomore release from one third of the brains behind the label, Rhyval. With nods to early Hessle Audio and Swap 81-backed Ramadanman records, percussion and bass play a central role across the three tracks, which is translated through warped subs, crisp snares and rumbling bass.

For the past several years Ravitz has been keeping up his production of house and techno music via different outfits like Inhalants, Masks, or Pulpo and most notably Patricia with his last year’s release – an epic 3LP record – ‘Several Shades of the Same Color’. His recent effort called ‘Free Lunch’ explores one of the directions presented on the album, however this time adding more color in the palette. 

Continuing to tool and retool his modular synth rack, on ‘Free Lunch’ Ravitz produces energetic electro tracks that show a shift from the familiar hazy murkiness to a fairly present sound and almost song-like writing that introduces layered melodies, acid grooves and luscious pointillism. ‘Your Battery Is Leaking’ is a groovy electro track with sizzling hi-hats, grimy bass tune and a lot of acid, while ‘Consumer Recreation Services’ is a heady trip of restless arpeggios and melting synths. ‘Placeholder’ combines the ingredients of the first two tracks and ‘Early Stages of Something’ brings back the grimy bass and lively groove. Finally ‘Winnipeg’ is the perfect closer returning to layered synth melodies and syncopated bass that brings back the feel of ‘I Know The Face, But Not The Name’ from his last album.

Following the release of his excellent debut on Barcelona’s Lapsus Records, Wordcolour lands on Houndstooth with an astounding EP of next generation club music. The London-based producer invites us into his musical world as we journey through three highly detailed soundscapes, both emotionally resonant and functional for the floor.

With a background in jazz, pop and contemporary classical, Wordcolour has also previously produced music for TV and theatre. On his sophomore solo release, he demonstrates his diverse musical knowledge with dynamic and engaging compositions that indicate many years of music making. While making nods to the best of contemporary UK experimentation, these cinematic tracks deftly switch between tempos all the while retaining Wordcolour’s own aesthetic signature.
