The latest single taken from No Fantasy Required, “Blondes Have More Fun,” is accompanied by a trio of remixes from contemporary electronica royalty: prolific Swedish producer on-the-rise Jonas Rathsman, Running Back boss Gerd Janson, and international house and techno breakout du jour, The Black Madonna.

Said Tiga of the Jonas Rathsman remix:
'I'm really impressed with the Jonas Rathman remix of “Blondes”; it manages to be delicate and powerful at the same time, a really smart version of my song, subtle and emotional and exceptionally well produced.’ 

Jonas himself stated “I was so happy when Tiga asked me to remix ’Blondes Have More Fun’! I love the original and I felt that the vocals were perfect to work with. I didn’t have too long to turn it around in between touring! But it all came together so quickly and I’m super happy with the way it came out. Tiga told me he was very happy also and that is so nice when you are delivering a remix for someone :) I’m really excited to share this one with you all.”

Tiga - Blondes Have More Fun (Jonas Rathsman Remix)

The phrase 'one-of-a-kind' perhaps gets thrown around too much these days, but those that already know Auntie Flo (née Brian D'Souza) will join me in saying this is no overstatement. Building a reputation for having one of the most sonically eclectic and captivating live shows, and the revered ability to combine acoustic and electronic elements like no other, Auntie Flo has been excelling at his own game for a minute now.

And now, Auntie Flo is back with a new EP to feed our hungry souls with his beats inspired the sounds of the universe. This project, already with Four Tet's backing, is the product of D'Souza's yearning to share his love of traditional African rhythms, and a wish to bring them to the world's stage. Here, he employs an impressive array of session musicians and a Ugandan ten-string harp, recording it all at the Santuri Studios as part of the Ugandan Bayimba arts festival in Kamapala last year.

"Rainfall on Red Earth" is available in its full 16-minute beauty as part of The Soniferous Garden EP, which will be released in full exclusively on vinyl by Sofrito early next year.

Waterford electronic music institution RePublik Music Recordings, the budding label of the noted party throwers, shines the spotlight on a local Irish talent with its latest release, welcoming Between Ourselves to the family. They follow in the footsteps of artists like Patlac, Matthias Meyer, Mathias Schober and Wayne Duggan. It’s only three releases in for the young imprint and the quality has yet to falter. Between Ourselves have rendered two splendid original cuts for the occasion, they come in the form of ‘Content Aware Scale’ and ‘Nostalgia’. To boot, RePublik lay the icing on the cake with a supreme rework from a man who needs little introduction; Maeve and Innervisions producer Aera.

A transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self. Our next excursion brings us to the idea of ‘Nirvana’. Self described as psychedelic techno, Franz Alice Stern leads the release with a trance-like, meditative track. 

Miss Melera makes her Polymath debut with a deep and melancholic trip. With important releases on Chapter 24 Records, and Berlin’s Traum Schallplatten, we felt Nirvana was a fitting theme for the artist. As uplifting as it is dark, the track builds momentum through an infectious groove. A break makes space for new musical ideas, until a final climax ends in a melodic release.

Marseille duo, Fathers, take a different approach. Gentle melodies flitter in and out of the ear adding to the refreshing mood.

Premiere: Konvex & The Shadow - 9

Thomas Gandey hits Noir Music later this week (Friday 23rd December) with his rework of ‘Lovemachine’, 1978 future disco band, Supermax’s track of the same name. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of it above.

Gandey first rose to prominence in the mid noughties as Cagedbaby, and has since gone on under his own name to see release through Carl Craig’s Planet E Communications, Get Physical, Crosstown Rebels, Suara, OFF, Desolat and Monkeytown.

On his rework of ‘Lovemachine’, Gandey turns in an arresting cut tailored for late night dancefloors, complete with his trademark haunting vocals. It comes as part of a two-tracker that features Re.you and Pleasurekraft’s remix on the flip.

The glass beaker sat upon the worktop, it's murky green contents shimmered within. This was the elixir of love and a potion of life. It was to be used sparingly as it was worth more than all of his worldly possessions combined. It had cost him his soul to purchase but now that it sat amidst the dull white room he felt scared. As he gazed out through the glass window he looked peacefully upon the autumn leaves as they fell golden to the concrete below. Up high in the tower nobody knew that what he was about to drink from would make him a new man. 

Banlieue Records return at the beginning of the new year with a statement of intent. Their new split EP features a number of prominent artists including Nummer, Benoit B, D'Marc Cantu and more.

The sun beamed down upon the radiant black concrete. The sound of an engine roared loudly in the wind as the convertible cruised along the M1. It was summer time and the beach was calling out to the gang. Music bellowed from the open top cabin and the breeze blew coarsely in her golden hair. She kept her eyes firmly fixed on the road whilst the whoops and cries of her passengers echoed in her ears. She could not find the feeling and she was not the same. This was not summer, not for her. 

Jad & The has amassed a reputation amongst lo-fi house heads and edit merchants alike. The new year sees him return with a new EP for Centre Source Records which will be his first with the Brisbane based label.

The jitter from the machine bounced around the room. It sent electric waves spinning between the cracked walls and cast a warmth throughout the dirty, dank basement. The people in the room did not care, they simply enjoyed the relentless sound of my bleep as it echoed eerily down the tunnel. The brick wall rocked abruptly as it shuddered under the weight of the noise. Water dripped from the ceiling up above and there was little air left amidst the space. Yet they continued to dance...

Efde is set to release a new EP on Voyage Direct, it will be the 26th edition to appear on the record label. The release follows on from his previous EP's which have appeared on Nordik Netrecords and Soweso. This time he digs deep as he explores the dramatic edges of techno whilst adding a lush musical edge.

This was not a moment of sadness but a time of joy, for in death he had completed his purpose on earth. A slow menage, a beautiful mind, a message which would last forever across the width of time. The cult would be theirs very soon. 

Marion Poncet steps up with a jacking house focussed EP with rugged samples and a hint of that old school French touch we lost decades ago. This release comes accompanied with a remix from Borrowed Identity.

The bang of metal on wood rattled every few seconds as the material flapped up above their heads. They had always dreamt of becoming pirates when they were little, this was the outcome. It was not to be quite as they had imagined but out at sea the pair found themselves at peace. All aboard the good ship Puntarenas...

Till Von Sein returns with a four track EP for Suol. Focussing on deep house he leads us through an array of emotive groovers and sun kissed sounds built for warmer days.

The street was dark and the light faint. The three stood menacingly gathered around a chair as the orange glow cast a hazy fuzz over the concrete. The moon was ever so white this evening, it shone brightly amidst the stars up above. Watching over the world it looked down in a sense of constant disbelief at the chaos which had begun to unfold on planet earth. Meanwhile the three gathered around the chair remained oblivious to the collapse of mankind. They quite simply moved under the beam from above in a consistent repetitive pattern. 

There is little known to the identity of V. He releases on Nautilus Rising, the record label run by the infamous Sub Club. Three tracks of jacking house you might typically expect to hear in the club on a Saturday night.
