Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion continues its release schedule this April with the launch of a new various artists series. Rebellion presents SOULS Vol.1 acts as the maiden edition and sees Tim Engelhardt, Senzala, Cancellieri and Asevenes inaugurate proceedings. 

Label founder Damian Lazarus had this to say on the release: "With so much incredible new music being created in the world, I noticed that I was finding new sonic connections between a number of up and coming producers. Fresh souls, speaking a fresh new sonic language directed at the dancefloors in our minds. Welcome to the new Souls.”

Tim Engelhardt’s Ionized feat. Hannah Noelle gets the VA underway, as shimmering pads cosy up next to Hannah’s emotive vocal offerings. Gentle piano rolls converge on a warming backbone throughout to form a poignant opening cut. Senzala’s Slow Burn soon ups the tempo, pairing tribal drum patterns with resonant percussion and stripped-back kick-hat combos before Relayion by Cancellieri soon arrives. Featuring echoing synths and a dubby underlying bassline, the near seven-minute piece feels both surreal and touching in one, leading serenely into Asevenes’ Blue Ride. A punchy, late night number, driving kicks marry up next to ethereal synth tones before whispering hats transport us to a world far removed from ours.

Hailing from the thriving musical output of Cologne, Tim Engelhardt is one of Germany’s brightest young talents with releases on labels like Stil Vor Talent, Cityfox, Innervisions and Fryhide. Based in London, Senzala is no stranger to contemporary house’s leading labels. Cutting his teeth on Art Department’s No.19 as well as Dubfire’s Sci + Tec, his collaborations with both Richy Ahmed and Jansons received widespread industry acclaim. Originally releasing under various pseudonyms, Italy’s Cancellieri is quickly establishing his presence in the scene. Having found a home on the prestigious Margot Recordings in recent times, his debut on Rebellion now marks a pivotal career moment. First coming to prominence in 2019 with the four-track Now Now Now 03 on Man Power’s Me Me Me, Asevenes’ appearance on Rebellion presents SOULS Vol.1 marks his second ever release, a testament to his keen-ear for production.

Veronika Fleyta & FREE.D — Why DJ (Dilby Remix)

The car raced towards the finish line at a hurtling pace. In pursuit there was a squadron of motors parading proudly in the wake of the smoke trail which blazed up high amidst the sky. Burning rubber lingered in the air and the crowd of spectators watched on in awe at the sheer speed and scale of the display. Some had disputed the validity of the race, some had even claimed that the sport was for suckers and cheats. What did they know about speed anyway? This was it. 

Dormir are an Australian group from Melbourne, they are set to release a new EP on Pelvis Records & Burning Rose, new wave, dream like electronics with a sense of nostalgia. The EP is rounded off by two remixes by both Cop Envy and Leo James. It is the first which we bring to you today.

In Pursuit

The computer screen flashed abruptly and the light went out beneath the thick dense glass. The old machine had potentially blown its fuse for the day but there was still significant hope that the track might not have been lost to the depths of the ether. Vanishing into thin air it had the potential to revitalise itself from the beyond. Reloading the machine there was little hope or life in the old box, the tin can rattled beneath the desk as his foot tapped abruptly upon the floor. 

Now here's a secretive one, an unknown artist with an unknown track. Discodromo however are familiar faces, the pair behind Cocktail d'Amore remix the mysterious alias on Me Me Me.

The machinery was piled high inside cardboard boxes which towered high towards the ceiling. The warehouse was a place of militant storage and not somewhere expected to be of any sort of interest to the outside world. At least so he thought... Inside however, there was a playhouse, a fortress of solitude by which nobody else knew of. The palace of Xenon was his big time place of fun and after dark once all the staff had gone he was quite simply left to his own devices. He was the king of the castle. 

Ludwig A.F. Röhrscheid is set to release a new EP on Exo Recordings on the 19th of February next month. A wonderful blend of elegant electronics, blissful pads and tricky rhythms.

The beach was a tropical paradise upon which beautiful people graced, it was not somewhere to see but in which to be seen. Sitting upon a sunbed he looked out at the peaceful world and took a drink from his tall glass of coco loco. The cold moisture which stuck to the side of the glass felt icy and  chilled to the touch, the sand in between his toes rustled below. The sun was scorching hot and the heat was almost too much to bare, retreating into the shade he lay down and closed his eyes. 

House Is Ok are set to release a new EP celebrating five years in business, the split EP features contributions from Kornel Kovacs, Roman Flugel and more.

The tropical escapade had seen them travel across the globe in search of the most beautiful beaches upon the great planet earth. What they had found was startling and beautiful: golden sands, blue skies, radiant green forests and winding waterfalls. Now as they stood watching the sun set upon the horizon they held each others hands and began to dance. This was the sweet foreign sound of sambao, a soundtrack to an experience which had led them amidst the stars and into beyond...

Duccio is set to release a new EP on the up and coming Greta Cottage Workshop imprint, a label with a consistent drive for exploration and creativity. He seems at home on the label with an intriguing club focussed release set to delight and surprise.

The letter was long winded and passionate. She had hoped that it might not get the better of her but at this moment in time she continued to weep a solemn sense of sadness at the poignancy of the loss. Walking out from the chapel she left behind a delicate tail of intricately woven misery and torturous anguish. It had never been supposed to end up like this for her, for her family, her friends and her lover. Now as the story came to a bitter yet fickle end she dreamt no more. 

Yila is remixed by an array of exceptionally talented musicians on a new EP for Supremus Records. Dave DK works his usual wizardry blending soft whispering vocals alongside his ominous electronics.

The latest release on Sound Avenue finds the label revisiting Madloch's 'Sagacity' EP for a new set of remixes. Originally released in August of 2017 the two track offering found the Belgian artist in the midst of a creative shift. Widely regarded as his most compelling work to date, Sound Avenue now invites Petar Dundov and Anton Dhouran to reinvent the tracks for 2018.
