He gripped both edges on the chair as the dentist slowly reclined him until he lay horizontal, the blinding ceiling lights attacked his eyes. “OPEN WIDE!” The dentist bellowed, picking up a large pair of sparkling pliers. He opened his mouth.“WIDER.” He opened his mouth wider. “WIDER!” The dentist grinned and put on her surgical mask. 

Pinning her combat boot on his chest, she took the pair of pliers and slotted them over his upper left molar. “3...” The dentist squeezed the pliers together. “2...” She pressed her foot down harder onto his chest. “1...” She ripped the molar from his mouth, raising it into the air like a trophy. 

Combining the addictive sounds of garage, breakbeat and broken rhythms, Manchester-based Dansu Discs bring you their second release of the year, and the second artist EP on the label from Yosh. Titled Erosion, the A-side blends wavering breaks and deadly subs, showing us a playful new side of the Timeisnow affiliate’s productions, while the B-side harnesses his well loved swung beats, lively stabs and compelling bass lines.

Spring ‘23 sees Faux Poly release the first in a series of remix compilations, 8 tracks from a different artists across multiple genres.

‘Faux Poly: Remixed 001’ marks the start of the label’s new regularly quarterly remix series, where a wide variety of producers are invited to pick anything from the label catalogue and reimagine it, making the core sounds of the label transcend their original setting and permeate through different club scenes around the world.

Highlights for FPR001 include Skudge’s unmistakable sound with Kassian’s flagship track ‘Off World Vehicles’, which has already garnered ongoing support from the likes of Ben UFO and Dixon, New Zealander newcomer Emanuel’s incredibly rowdy flip of Jay Carder’s A1 single ‘Eva’s Stoned’, and a club focussed change of tone from Demi Riquisimo, taking a left turn from his regular house influenced style with a choppy breakbeat remix of Jay Carder’s ‘So Carelessly’.

K-LONE returns with his second full length project, ‘Swells’: a kaleidoscopic and expansive record that looks to deep house, synthpop, leftfield R&B and beyond for a spellbinding masterwork of melodic electronica. 

The first single ‘Love Me A Little’ sees K-LONE cherrypick influences from inside and outside the club - decorating house and UKG rhythms with angular, noodling pop melodies that recall Kitsune and Greco Roman in their heydey. Fizzy, lo-fi drums accompany an ear-worming bassline and lush JUNO chords for a summery club-non-club anthem that that marks a new high point in his ever-deepening discography.

This EP from German duo @not-even-noticed is a music production lover’s dream. Honestly, the sound design and production levels are just beyond belief in my opinion. Needless to say, they have been on heavy rotation since I first received the demos and they aren’t anywhere close to getting old yet.

They somehow straddle the line between beautiful soundscapes and absolute face melting, eyes rolling back, grabbing the person next to yours’s shoulders heat. Does that even make sense? Well I think you get what I mean.

The EP is out next Friday the 21st.
