Could planet Earth be considered a living being? And if so, could it be seen as the physical vessel of a planetary-level spiritual entity? Ancient Hinduism believed so and expounded it in The Upanishads: a collection of early sacred texts where such entity was named Sanat Kumara and inhabited the very center of the Earth, lodged in the wondrous city of Shamballa - these beliefs were later appropriated by western New Age sects of the early 20th century and turned into all manner of silly representations and distortions. 

The idea of a conscious, thinking spirit at the centre of Earth's movements, cycles and magnanimous energy was the inspiration for the opening track on the second naive release by Photonz; accordingly, the tittle-track "Planetary Spirit" is an explosion of modulating energy and rhythm ready to blow raver's into gosebumps territory and full-on techno hysteria. Followed by "Badagas", the EP moves into brainy-but-percussive territory, full of synthetic resonant drums and UK bass sensibility. 

On the flip we've got "Circumference", a driving and hypnotic techno track with synthesized bubble motifs and a steady four-to-the-floor beat. Ending things on a more leftfield tip, Photonz merges early Earth drone bass with Claro Intelecto-style FM bass and slowed-down latin funk rhythms on the true-to-theme track "Earth 2".

Floating between the stars from time to time he'd catch a glimpse from the large window up front and peer back down to earth millions of miles away. All around him there was nothing but thick, dense black and the occasional glimmer of a pale glowing star. He was between two worlds, caught in the galaxy between planets and searching for something out there to land upon and call home once and for all. It seemed like a lifetime ago since he'd left home but perhaps that was just an illusion - a trick of the mind. 

E Davd appears on a new EP from Deviant Episode, the Paris based record label will release their first split EP following previous outings from the likes of Norus, Dj Physical and more.

There was a strange, mysterious object which floated in the dense night sky. It flashed an electric green, illuminous and weird amidst a backdrop of delicate stars. It left a lot to the imagination - what was inside? Who was in flight? Were these creatures from the great beyond? It had been a long time since they'd last seen a UFO around these parts, not since the hot and heavy summer nights of the sixties. Then again, who knew what they'd seen way back then in the days of old. It was but a blur to him, a psychedelic haven of rage and madness.

A little while back we featured a mix from the ever playful musician and producer Your Planet Is Next. A Scandinavian superhero of sorts who has come to save the day from snobby enthusiasts and those who take life too seriously. He appears on a new split EP for Warning Records with a track called "UFO".
