As day becomes night the sky begins to change, the stars illuminate, white balls of burning flame. The sunlight dies, clouds blacken the expanse which sits above the world, nothing shines but the twinkling light of those little pearls. The equinox is near, the celestial calendar aligns and day and night correspond in equal time. The reach is far and wide, earth floats, a hazy planet at the mercy of the tide: the sun casts it's final beam, slips beneath the line and dies.

The Mahaki tribe gathered around the ancient stones amidst the African trees. These last few days had been a celebration of the change in the seasons, the sands had begun to blow, the dusty winds swept through the air on the breeze. They raised their hands to the skies above and began to chant, one drum banged and banged and banged. The wind grew stronger and their voices carried far and wide.

The waters roared as they swarmed the southern bound ship. The captain barked his orders fiercely as the waves crashed and whipped against the side of the rickety boat, they were barely surfacing now amidst the depths of the sea. This was almost the deep point, the point of no return: plummeting into the sea would see them sink to the murky depths of the oceans abyss. They had waited ever so long to find themselves in this position but somehow they had ended up wishing they might find themselves anywhere else than were they were right now. 

The much loved Joe Europe is set to release a track on a compilation for Flumo alongside Gene Hunt and a number of others.

He moves down the flank, weaving his way between teammates and the flying limbs of the opposition. Shouts and cries fill the air as an eager sense of anticipation grows within this cauldron of a stadium. The blood is pounding in his head as he runs ever closer towards the final line. Then there was a flash, a bang, a crash: the crackle of a loud drum could be heard from the stands as an eruption of noise echoed across the grounds. He was the winger, he absorbed the moment, and moved towards the line. 

Big Miz is a Glaswegian favourite, you will find him regularly DJ'ing the La Cheetah booth in a Celtic top, wine in hand and a cheerful grin emblazoned across his face. Here is his latest one for the ever sound Dixon Avenue Basement Jams lot.

The white tiles glimmered on the walls of the spa, the marble tables lined the room as drops of water ran from trickling taps, steam billowed down the halls and the scent of lavender kissed the air. Across the room a woman lay sprawled across a sunlounger by the pool: she sipped from a long glass some fragrant cocktail of luscious fruits and red mist. She winked and called me over...

Astropical Tapes is a new found Polish imprint who have been receiving support from the likes of Axel Boman, Jimpster and Detroit Swindle. This one is taken from the latest EP from Marcin Krupa and dabbles in soothing melodic house and disco excursions. Titled "Spa House" it is named after Konstantin Jeziorna, a historically famous spa resort on the outer reaches of Warsaw.

Akshardham sat upon the skyline overlooking the sprawling landscape of Delhi: this was a spiritual place, a peaceful place which sat illuminated in the pink dying light of the Indian sun. A cloudy smog hovered above the streets and the warm scent of cooking spices being tossed in kitchen pans floated on the air. Music played, a steady percussive drum and the plucking strums of a chord.
Modern Obscure Music are a record label based in Barcelona. Their forthcoming compilation features music from the likes of Sau Poler, Damian Schwartz, Biel Blancafort and newcomer Ralf Laurent. The album 'Ritual Rhythms' is set for release on the 24th of February. Listen to a track from Ralf Laurent titled "Delhi".

The deep sea monster lived in a cavern a thousand miles beneath the surface of the waves. Nothing but blackness could be seen amongst the murky depths except for it's wicked white eyes burning through the black and its fins cutting through the water like a knife. It moved through the water with such grace and elegance, it's presence so strikingly terrifying yet beautiful. From time to time legend would tell of it rising to sea level to bask in the light of the moon but who knew whether that were myth, fantasy or dream.

"Toura Toura" they cried, from the mountain on high to the travellers down below. The walk had been long and their sandals had taken a battering from the dried up desert sands on which they had tread. The rocky cliff face cast it's shadows across the red sands below as it rose from the ground like some sort of twisted stone skyscraper amidst the nothingness. Those at the top unfurled a large red flag to those below, it blotted a blackened shape against the pale blue sky as it soared. 

Formed in New York City, it is through accidental circumstances that the members of Innov Gnawa, originally from Morocco, found themselves as a musical group. Innov Gnawa are the only NewYork-based Gnawa band who play regularly and still remain true to the traditions of the ancient ritual. Here they receive the remix treatment from 1-800 Dinosaur affiliate Mr Assister on a forthcoming release for Pique Nique Records.

Sweden's Richard Rossa latest cut is this kaleido-disco charmer which gets its scales soothed by Heretic on this remix. Full package includes 4 original tracks and further remixes by Thomass Jackson and Motorcycle Boy.

The clattering thuds would never fade, they would bang through the dark of night emblazoned into his dreams forever more. He was still haunted by the tunnel, the flashing light and the warwhoops and screams of revellers lost in the tripped out maze of darkness and noise. His escape from that bittersweet warehouse had seemed so bliss at the time but now there was an eerie sense of longing to return to a place which he had once loathed and loved at the same time all so much. 

Lemontrip is based in Holland, his latest EP on Fog Mountain explores only one element of his musical personality which also sees him involved in the programming behind De School. Listen to 'Fade' .

The light of the foyer illuminates the street. The illuminous pumps shine in the midst of the petrol station courtyard and the striking brand name 'Aziol' reads flamboyantly above the door. There was nowhere else to fuel up for miles around, business was booming and the chirps and chimes of mechanics echoed from parked cars. There was to be a race soon, crowds had already begun to gather to observe the fastest guys in town. Engines roared...

Trux is set to release an LP on the rather secretive German based Office Recordings.  Office07 is the latest edition to a series which has seen releases from the likes of Christopher Rau, Baaz and Dorisburg. Listen to "Aziol".

He rocketed through the sky at a rate of knots heading towards the dreamboat clouds above. The trees became a big green blur below and the wind rattled his feathers. Why would any bird ever choose to stay so close to the ground when the dizzying heights above offered so much freedom, expression and joy. Above the clouds everything seemed more simple, more innocent, distant and grand, this was freedom and damn he would fly...
Ville Nouvelle are an exciting new record label emerging from Paris in France. Their first release sees them debut a cassette from José Roboter and Too Smooth Christ. It ventures along a similar territory to some of the smoother sounds stemming from the likes of Mood Hut, 1080p and Future Times whilst incorporating the warmth of analog house. A sonic journey, a fresh vocation where he had met beautiful, unanimous souls. He had shared with them his mantra, and together they had refined it's refrain. Now they were always dancing, never complaining.

The sounds of the carnival filled the sprawling streets, colours flourished amidst the glimmering procession of percussion and cries roared. From a table he looked on in peaceful observation, a cigarette balanced delicately between his lips, a glass of rum perched upon the table which sat before him. He kicked out his legs and lay back, this was his city, his town and his Brazil. This sunkissed country and it's people belonged to him, they just didn't know it yet. 

Here is the latest offering from the much loved, highly rated San Proper. L.O.V.E. on Dopeness Galore comes with a laidback, sensual kinda feeling which can often go amiss from House music. This one is all about intricacy, attention to detail, a low slung groove and natural feeling. Listen to "Brazil".

The chant was one of pain and desperation as he stood amidst the village of shanty huts. This was a place which he had called home for so long but now as he stood staring at the burnt out town that surrounded him he had never felt a stronger sense of disconnect. His heart ached for his missing lover, she had vanished into the shadowy depths of the forest which surrounded the once peaceful town. He shouted into the night, calling her name, "Tabanka" he cried, again and again. 

Sofrito: Tropical Discotheque is a record label made up of Hugo Mendez, Frankie Francis, Lewis Heriz and friends. Based in London they release music of a wonderfully eclectic worldly origin which could be as far removed from the city streets in which they inhabit.  Alma Negra is based in Switzerland and has previously released music for Highlife and INI Movement. This one has tribal dancefloor written all over it.

Sat at the traffic lights there was little she could do but wait. Pedestrians crossed the street with a strut to their step, a beat to their walk, a drive to their pace. That was all she wanted now, to drive, pace and speed. She softly revved the engine, it hummed and vibrated beneath the bonnet in accompaniment with the ever buzzing rotation of her thoughts. All of a sudden red flashed, orange followed and the green light sprung to life. She moved forward, she was allowed to pass, allowed to proceed. 
Harald Björk has crossed our radar on several occasions as of late. His Studio Barnhus EP was stellar and by the sounds of it his forthcoming three part album series will follow in a similar theme.

The shuttle had finally left earth headed for extra terrestrial life and promise. It burst through the clouds and towards the blue sky which slowly merged to black. The switches flicked and the the lights flashed in the cockpit. He pulled his helmet over his head and tensed. He was ready to enter a zone in which no human had ever been before. His existence was no longer on earth but beyond it's outer reaches. Adrift the tiny rocket ship floated through the sky on to bigger, better things. On to Xager...

NY*AK has released a few records as of late which have caught our attention however this forthcoming release for Technicolour caught the ears straight from the off. Listen to 'Xager'.
