In 2017, Glasgow based label Huntleys + Palmers celebrates ten years in action. In that time, Andrew Thomson has ensured it became a fertile musical breeding ground and an impossible to pin down outlet that offers up anything from afro to techno to bass music. Auntie Flo, SOPHIE and Alejandro Paz have all emerged from the Glasgow based stable and have put out music that plays with off kilter rhythms. Andrew's curatorial ear has also made the parties of the same name just as unpredictable, and before it closed he was also a programmer at London’s legendary Plastic People. 

The mix he has served up here under the Huntleys + Palmers moniker, takes a typically widescreen view and includes “tracks that I've been playing for a while and expect I'll continue to play in years to come.” Starting steady and worldly with dub and deep cosmic grooves, it grows more twisted with wiry electronics and frazzled synths before pulling back again, then repeating the cycle. It makes for a perfectly paced and well balanced mix that bubbles and boils and always keeps you guessing without ever falling off the edge.

Munich's Kareem El Morr has carved out a reputation for his refined blend of electro, IDM and trance. Since his debut on local label RFR in 2018, El Morr has made a several other contributions to VAs including his opener on the Munich-focused Ilian Tape four-tracker, Bias Jams.

It's been a couple of years since his last outing but now he returns with his debut EP, Wasteland Breaks, for Molten Moods — a collection of meticulously produced cuts that showcase his approach to detail and melody. Ahead of the release, set for 7th December, we invited him to take control of this week's Shine A Light On mix which floats through crisp, atmospheric electronics, giving you a taste of what Kareem is all about.

For almost two decades DJ, promoter, producer and vocalist Michelle Manetti has been an active and respected voice in East London's queer scene, pushing for representation for marginalised artists through her regular parties and her now defunct Lipstick Disco blog.

A mainstay at Dalston Superstore, her Fèmmme Fraîche parties - launched in 2015 alongside Sandra Le - have become a bi-monthly fixture, and have helped to spotlight emerging female, female-identifying and non-binary DJs, as well as hosting bigger names like Honey Dijon, Rroxymore and Nightwave.

Sonically driven by jackin' house beats, trippy acid, dynamic techno and more recently proto, Italo and breaks, her sets are as electic as they are energetic. True to form, she brings that relentless energy on her 'Ransom Note' mix, which is a ride through raunchy Italo, driving synths and hypnotic acid...
