Ahhhh how to describe The Umlauts... In their own words they're 'just your average trans-European, multi-lingual, art-school, post-punk, techno-inspired, über-group/circus-troop/diaeresis'. We really couldn't have put it better ourselves...

The South East London-based outfit has its beginning in Stroud, where the group's songwriters Alfred Lear and Oliver Offord hail from, but The Umlauts as they are today came into their own when vocalists Annabelle Mödlinger and Maria Vittoria Faldini joined the pack.

The group introduced their sound to the masses last year with the release of their debut EP Ü on PRAH, and have since gained a devoted following, not only for their recordings but their captivating, frenetic live shows which see the four-piece expand to a healthy line up of eight musicians on stage.

The hype is only growing. They've just released Another Fact, the latest outing in their catalogue and are currently in the throes of their first headline tour, which will see them stop in cities like Leeds, Glasgow and Manchester. To give us a taste of the sounds that fuel their own musical melting pot, they've shared a mix featuring music from Sophie Du Palais, Nina Hagen and more, put together with love by vocalist Annabelle.

The Umlauts: The 'Shine A Light On' Mix

Italian born, Rotterdam based experimentalist c00 takes over for an hour with a display of authenticity, which has become an inevitable characteristic of her output.

Just sneaking in at the end of the month, the Gated pod is back and this time we're excited to have with us Lex G for a guest mix.

Lex is multi-genre DJ from London and runs the independent label/platform Gunfinger Food, aimed at advocating underground vinyl culture.

This mix is filled mainly with electro, techno and breaks. Something to get you moving.

What stood out the most was not just limiting to one particular sound, but connecting a variety of electronic music that I was able to connect with as someone who collects and DJs many different styles.
