So... Back in the day, Kurbside used to carry around a handheld cassette recorder and have it randomly rolling when we'd be out on various adventures. This song is formed around a particular cassette excerpt from a night where we encountered and befriended an exceptionally drunk diner patron who initially thought us to be an easy mark.

Our homage to Hirokazu Tanaka and one of the most influential and loved games of all time: METROID!

We love 8-bit and lo-fi stuff, so we hooked up an original Nintendo and sampled the original Metroid start screen music. It was always  one of the most ominous and epic sounding scores from back then. Also we felt that the sci-fi angle really fit with us well.

We added some bass-heavy drum elements, combined with commodore 64 sounds and scratching behind it, and the result was something both hilarious AND badass. The "blow him to pieces" scratch actually comes from the Star Wars record storybook "Droid World", which—in itself—is pretty rare and cool, so crate diggers take note.

Anyhow... We hope this both takes you back to a good, nostalgic  place, and gets your head nodding. 

Much love and respect to Hirokazu Tanaka. Thanks for the joy you brought by adding so much more than graphics alone ever could to a legendary gaming experience. We hope this is received in the manner in which it was intended.
