[The Beginning - Part 5]

Taking a break from his vocation of forging the industrial hardcore sound, The Relic made a very unique mix with (almost) all of his favorite dance tracks from the late 80s and early 90s, a time when genres and styles were not fragmented like today, when it was all just house music. "Total Recall" is a more than adequate title for a number of huge mixes, also paying homage to the 1990 sci-fi/fantasy classic.

This is Part 5 (the final part) of 'The Beginning', the fifth part of what will add up to a huge acid, new beat, hip house and oldschool megamix of no less than six hours and stand as the prequel to the already infamous „Second Stage“ mix which assembled the entirety of early hardcore classics.

My short-term and long-therm goals are the same: writing compositions for various instrumentations and producing diverse electronic music, for which i'm taking the first steps in mixing and producing.
From time to time i record mixes in diverse electronic music styles, with the feet firmly anchored in everything oldskool. My mixes contain a balance of more famous tracks, B-sides, netlabel music and unreleased tracks.

I'm always open for suggestions, new contacts and musicians who are willing to play a composition.

Zaczęło się niewinnie: z początkiem millennium Tomas najczęściej gustował w brzmieniach artystów muzyki elektronicznej zachodnich granic Europy, gromadząc swoje ulubione utwory i (co się okazało po dłuższym czasie) kształtując swój gust muzyczny. W końcu, gdy zasoby muzyczne zaczęły się już powoli przepełniać, postanowił spróbować własnych sił w DJingu, przy użyciu wszelakich połączeń sprzętu analogowego z cyfrowym.
Kiedy młodsza siostra dostała swoją pierwszą gitarę elektryczną, starsza siostra podbijała serca słuchaczy swoim wokalem, a młodszy brat zwyciężał pierwsze, poważne "klanówki w Counter-Strike'a "Tomasz miał już na koncie kilka udanych występów z prawdziwą publiką, gównie w południowej i centralnej części Polski [Toxicator, Brutal Electronic Festival, Mordownia] . Dzięki decyzji o poważnym graniu na podziemnych imprezach, wsparciu grupy przyjaciół, treningom na domowym sprzęcie i inspiracji legend muzyki z pogranicza Hardcore Techno/Gabber jest już zdecydowanie identyfikowany z pomorską sceną, na której "muzyczna machina czasu" ukazuje swoje znaczenie. Styl jaki reprezentuje dzisiaj pod tzw. "schizmem gatunkowym" >Da Braindropah< cechuje się klasykami gatunku Oldschool Hardcore, Happy Hardcore, Early Rave i drobną nutką turnabilizmu pomiędzy. Pod pseudonimem bez przedrostka, czyli >Braindropah< postanowił brnąć z ewolucją powyżej podanych gatunków i eksperymentów muzycznych, odkrywanych w owym czasie.

Industrial hardcore has been one of the most consistent styles that hardcore has spawned, going strong since the turn of the millennia. The same goes for The Relic, moniker of Dutch producer Maurice Pinkster, who has been a steady contributor, and a key player of the scene since its humble beginnings. 

After starting as a producer in 1994, initially releasing on various labels, he found his first home on FIX Records and Neophyte’s Symp.tom, where he released a string of influential 12”es. After Symp.tom went defunct, he created his own label Dark.Descent. in order to be able to develop The Relic – and his various other projects like Zanthrax, Dual Mechanism, Hidden Rooms (dark acid techno) and of course Cubic Nomad (from hard rhythmic IDM to serene ambience) with complete artistic freedom. 

Pushing dark and industrial hardcore and techno forward, Dark.Descent has also released prolific artists like Embrionyc, Dep Affect, Sei2ure, Sound Abuse, Starving Insect and many more; The Relic has cooperated with artists such as Dep Affect, Moleculez, Innovative, Sidephex, Mute. and remixed the likes of Neophyte, Human Resource, Mono No Aware, Sacerdos Vigilia, Traffik, Embrionyc, Somatic Responses, ▲NGST or X-Core. 

The Relic now looks back at a triptych of bunker-themed full-length albums, all pinnacles of his extra-dark, trademark sound that has brought him wide recognition across genre borders. His reputation as a DJ is also more than rock solid, and many of his killer mixes can be found online or via the infamous “Ben Harder Show” which he co-founded.
