Lighthouse

Atmosphere (No Drums)

A test run of a piece from a game I've been working on since last year (I do not know when it will be finished, sorry). The game is all about space travel, and this is an early pass at one of the dozen or so tracks representing the powering up (and possible overloading) of your ship's warp drive. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, maybe you arrive at your destination, maybe you explode into a million pieces. Fun!

Boom Jumpers-Powering the void drive (test)

This track evolved from a first patch created on Arturia's CS80V, (the main sequence). From there I filled it out with the signature VP330 strings and choirs and some further CS80 horn calls and it took on a bit of "Blade Runner" feel.
I do love this Vangelis sound palette! As a fan its a joy to get lost in :)

Hades

Another track I made for moving image. This was for an animation based on the Greek myth of Theseus & the Minotaur. I wanted to try and capture that intense symphonic sound of Vangelis, the drama and the action.

Labrynth

In terms of capturing a Vangelis sound, I'm really happy with this one. Again as a fan of this sound it was a joy to make, and its nice to listen to these textures, and feel the mood. Very definitely "Blade Runner" inspired, again following a jazzy vibe like "Blade Runner" blues.
The Syd Mead artwork also evokes that rich textured world that Ridley Scott so successfully created.

Sidewalk Diner

Around 1985 Vangelis released the album Soil Festivities, which alongside Blade Runner probably ranks as one of my all time favourite Vangelis albums. I think this particular sound palette is what I wanted to capture with this track. An evolving symphonic piece that reflects the movements of nature.

Another "Blade Runner" inspired piece. 
Bradbury building, dark, dank, puddles, roving spotlights, Roy Batty emerging from lift...

Search Lights

I started experimenting in FM8 to re-acquaint myself with FM synthesis techniques. Managed to develop some interesting and moody ring mod electronic atonal sounds, and from there this track evolved. The addition of the electronic piano stabs and the moody organ pads suggested this kind of contemplative feeling, reminding me of some scenes from Deckard’s apartment in “Blade Runner”. Some signature Vangelis sounds round off that feel 

Felt like a noodle on the synths this evening. This is a one take improv which I fleshed out into a few layers.
Its very much a homage to the opening shot of Blade Runner 2049.
