A simple little Dr. Who song I wrote yesterday... the recording's not too great, but I had fun!

People focus so much on the Doctor's human companions that we tend to forget that he has (or had) a very extensive timelord family. Most, if not all of them, are dead and lost. This is a song to the Doctor from his family.

so far from silver leaves and two bright golden stars
into the unknown and the black
although I know that you are never coming back
I’m sure you’ve changed, my dear, I’m sure you would astound

It was a January day
unlucky numbers clouded visions full of gray
but I opened up my eyes for the first the first time, in a way
and I screamed, and I screamed, and screamed.

It was a bright August-ian face
that smiled at me and brought me out of my disgrace
and laughed a little bit and said that she’d join in the chase
so we dreamed, and we dreamed, and dreamed.

He had a warm September death
just slipped away upon the wisp of final breath
and I found him in a haze of those we cannot forget
who left but never moved on.

And in July I tripped and fell
I heard a crack and felt a pain and gave a yell
and now I stumble sideways, and I do it pretty well
and I may be broken, but at least the pain is gone.

I’m about as special as a glass of water
but I can see the faces of the after-slaughter
and I’m covered in the scars of the things that no one sees
and I could have the whole world down on its knees
and the end.

It was a January sky
looming overhead when I first wished I could die

January Day

A song about falling in love with a werewolf. 

Inspired, for the most part, by the lovely Flyingrotten's Were!John comics, which I have read devotedly. I wanted to contribute to the amount of wonderful fanwork going into her were!John AU, so I made the only kind of art I am able to: singy stuff.

of the moon and the stars?
Days that left us like friends, each goodbye was never an end
just like memories and scars.
Lonely but never alone, from two houses that never were homes
what a pair we make.
Oh what a journey before us, we’ve come so far from the forest
so what path should we take?

Stay and hold me through the night
we’re okay although we’re not all right
sing to me the full moon
and I’ll stay here with you.

Do you remember the nights when we held each other with fright
at what we were, what we are?
Hold this demon within, blood is thick and skin is thin
and it may tear, it may scar.
We grew up, and it hurt  – although I don’t know which is worse 
blood or tears, yours or mine.
Two years gone and then three (all the years, where’d they go)
 we’ve both made mistakes I agree (I don’t know, I don’t know)
and we’ve lost time.

Hold me tightly through the night
don’t let go, though I may fight
even through the full moon
I’ll stay here with you.

And oh, my darling my dear 
they all run away, but I’ll still be here
oh my partner, my friend
I’ll be with you ‘til the end.

Do you remember the stars, how they sparkled above and our hearts sang?
Because I still remember the taste of your lips and the thrill of the chase

Through The Night

If you listen closely, you can hear me reciting: a) fibonnaci numbers, b) a binary code, c) the quadratic formula, d) the equation for arc length, and e) the first twenty or so digits of pi.

My mind is running faster that the feet of marathoners
when there’s only twenty meters left to go.
The neurons shooting quicker than the speed of light, the speed of sound
like pulsars beaming photons to and fro.
And I was walking taller than the sky, I told myself that I could fly
but then I fell and would have died
if you hadn’t stretched out both your arms and kept me out of harm
and caught me by surprise.
 
There’s too much information like an over-crowded station
where the people run and every train is late
the palace walls are breaking, it’s no wonder that it’s taking
all my power just too keep my vision straight.
Confine all my thoughts into a stream, for all this life is but a dream,
and every moment is a waking nightmare.
And I, I think that I’m about to break, a feeling I can’t seem to shake
in every moment I’m awake
oh god, what will it take?
 
It all comes down to you
because you break my mind in two
I never thought I’d be complete
but that’s a thought I’ll now delete.
 
The world; I feel it turning, and the sun; I feel it burning
as the UV rays sear shapes into my eyes
and everything is blinding and I find I can’t think clearly
over this deafening uproar from inside
and I am tearing cracks into my skin to try and let some fresh air in
to help me settle down this din.
But you, you are sewing up my scars and you are pointing out the stars
above the busy London streets
which I never thought I’d need
so, delete, delete.
 
You’re the one who keeps me right
you’re my conductor of light
you’ve performed a tricky feat:
you’ve become a thought I won’t delete.

This is my first edited song, first parody, and really the first time I successfully use Garageband, so I hope that it GOES WELL.

 I sing both parts plus play the guitar in the background, but the ORIGINAL SONG is called Long Way Down by Tom Odell. You might recognize it from TFIOS. 

This is really a song that best fits Dave and Karkat I think but it fits in with a lot of other characters as well or even just all of the characters in Homestuck. I hope you enjoy it!!
