The ship's faithful android P.A.L. has finally turned up and encountered Capt. Gerrald while he is still heavily under the influence of the Questionable Food Rations. Gerrald's delusional observations of P.A.L. in this state make him believe that the android is some kind of deep-space being of pure enlightenment who has come to share Nirvana with him. Our captain fixates on P.A.L., literally awestruck by this radiant being of happiness. He is oblivious of the android's incessant attempts to wake him up in time to leave the abandoned freighter before it drifts into a massive derelict in the wreckage field.
