Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, it was after her family moved to Brussels, that Irini really discovered music. 

School in a new country was not a welcoming experience at first. The detachment Irini experienced led to a lot of time alone exploring the classic Greek records her parents played in their new home. 

The twelve years of piano lessons that followed, uncovered a new love for jazz and improvisational music. This, alongside a continued appreciation for traditional music from Greece and the wider world combined to form the most prominent and lasting influences in her song writing. 

Returning to Greece to study law, Irini attended the Athenaeum Conservatory adding a new busy schedule of performing to her life, taking her to festivals and venues around the country, playing with some of Greece’s most famous artists. 

Irini then travelled to Scotland to further her music education. At the Royal Conservatoire, she worked with the Euroradio Orchestra and Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. But her stay in Scotland also opened important new pathways, introducing her to the new wave of UK jazz. Recording with artists including Corto.Alto, Fractus Band and Fergus McCreadie started the important first steps towards her solo project. 

In 2018, Irini came to London to complete her music education at Guildhall. Now, surrounded and encouraged by a diverse and prolific musical community she incorporates all influences into her performing life, from jazz, to samba, to folk and beyond.

Irini Arabatzi - No Matter What (for U)

I'm A Joke is another shining example of Irini Arabatzi's power to balance light and dark to perfection. A confrontation, facing down wilful misunderstanding and preconceptions to accept her own power and nature. While the music almost skips forward into energising and memorable choruses. 

Irini Arabatzi is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and performer. 

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, she began her music journey while growing up in Brussels. 

Inspired by the Greek records of her parents she began to absorb traditional folk sounds but also to discover jazz and improvisation during 12 years of piano classes. Music remained a vital ingredient of her life when she returned to Greece, attending the Athenaeum Conservatory. After performing all around the country and with some of its most famous artists, she moved to Scotland to continue her education and met with artists like Corto.Alto, Fractus Band and Fergus McCreadie. 

After arriving in London in 2018 she began her first solo musical project which is now coming into the world via south London soul and jazz label Albert’s Favourites. Her debut EP, to be released in June 2024, is a collection of intimate yet uplifting songs, produced alongside her brother Manolis. The music is saturated with beautiful melodies and full of light.

Irini Arabatzi - I'm A Joke (for W.)

Irini Arabatzi has quietly been bringing her uplifting presence and sublime vocal talent to the UK jazz and soul scene for a few years now. Previous collaborations include Corto.Alto, Fergus McCreadie and Jonny Wickham. 

The lightest of touches fuses exemplary pop sensibilities with folk and soul sounds and rhythms. Her guitar and piano thread through evolving soundscapes while memorable melodies anchor each moment. 

Her debut EP calls on all these worlds to create a fresh, enchanting set of songs that have an unmistakable lightness, but carry so much depth and detail in songwriting and production. She repeatedly succeeds at taking introverted and melancholy subjects and somehow making them feel uplifting and optimistic. 

Songs for Them, is an EP made in a creative partnership with her brother Manolis Arabatzis. “We've been very close since forever. Especially musically.” Says Irini. “I trust him 100% and he knows me very, very well. We have similar taste and relationship with music.” 

The whole record was written and produced while living together in their new north London home. The songs also feature contributions from Ben Brown (Waaju), Jonny Wickham, Inês Loubet, and are mixed by Oli Barton-Wood (Nubiyan Twist, Summer Pearl, Andrew Ashong).

Irini Arabatzi - When I Look At You (for M.)

Soul, Wake Up — an original composition by Marc Buronfosse (lyrics by Monika Kabasele), featuring vocals by Nefeli Fasouli. Part of the album SPACETIME, to be released in November 2025 by The Sound of Paros, a collective of 9 musicians from France, Greece, Italy and Switzerland.
The track invites listeners into an immersive soundscape that blends jazz harmony, Mediterranean feeling, and rhythmic poetry.
The sublime voice of Nefeli Fasouli, special invited guest, inhabits the lyrics of the song with deep emotions. With her sincere and nuanced voice, she explores an intimate path between introspection and light, in a hushed atmosphere where each note seems to weigh its words.
Driven by a warm groove and organic instrumentation, this single blends the elegance of neo-soul with the emotional intensity of classic R&B and jazz. “Soul, Wake Up” captures the spirit of SPACETIME in microcosm: it echoes the themes and moods of the eight-track album to follow.

SPACETIME by The Sound of Paros is a cross-border jazz journey inspired by the island of Paros. Blending jazz, Mediterranean colors, electronic textures, and poetry, six European artists create immersive soundscapes, featuring as special guests: the jazz legend  Franco Ambrosetti, Nefeli Fasouli, Kimon Xigkis, and Jean-Philippe Carlot. A vibrant celebration of unity in diversity.

Originally composed by Victor Young in 1949, with lyrics by Ned Washington, My Foolish Heart remains one of the most cherished ballads in the jazz repertoire — a song that speaks of the fragility and vulnerability of human emotion. On SPACETIME, this classic is reimagined with a delicate balance of intimacy and lyricism.
At the center of the track is the luminous voice of Nefeli Fasouli, whose interpretation reveals both the tenderness and quiet strength hidden within the song’s timeless melody. In dialogue with her voice, Franco Ambrosetti’s flugelhorn offers a warm, soulful counterpoint. A living legend of European jazz, Ambrosetti brings decades of experience and a uniquely lyrical tone, his lines unfolding like a second voice in conversation with Fasouli. The interplay between singer and horn is intimate and unforced, creating a musical dialogue that feels as natural as breathing. Supported by the subtle textures of the ensemble — Fender Rhodes piano, bass, drums, and delicate percussion — this rendition honors the ballad’s history while making it unmistakably part of the SPACETIME universe.
The result is more than a cover: it is a timeless interpretation, imbued with warmth, grace, and depth, and a testament to the project’s vision of bringing diverse voices together in a shared moment of music.

07 - My Foolish Heart (feat. Franco Ambrosetti and Nefeli Fasouli)

The Sound of Paros is a group of musicians and artists who had crossed paths over the years through various performances and artistic encounters in the beautiful island of Paros, Greece.
In April 2025, the Sound of Paros members converged in Paros to bring a long-envisioned album to life. The result is the new album SPACETIME (to be released in November 2025),  a vibrant musical collaboration rooted in jazz, electronic music, and poetry.
