A superb, acoustic gig by frogs of Taiwan. French sound artist Yannick Dauby intends to record the songs of all 32 different species of frogs living on the island. This is a 9 minutes mix of his favorites.

Superb Lyrebird calling in the early morning, not long after dawn, in the Jamison Valley. This particular area of the Jamison Valley is on the slopes of the Narrow Neck Plateau and is covered in lush, wet sclerophyll forest, which borders a small pocket of rainforest.
Some of the birds the lyrebird mimics in this performance are: Laughing Kookaburra, Satin Bowerbird, Eastern Whipbird, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Lewin's Honeyeater, Pied Currawong, Crimson Rosella, Pilotbird, Australian King Parrot. Many of the odd sounds it makes are pure Lyrebird calls as they do have their own unique repertoire. 
In the background you can hear many Bell Miners twinkling.

Superb Lyrebird In The Jamison Valley, Blue Mountains

Track One of two from disc 4 of 4 from my new album of Peru sounds. This disc covers the evening and night sounds from about 6pm to 6am.  I recorded so much material from a five week visit to Peru (In March - April 2014) that I decided there was too much material to fit onto one CD, so I went for a four disc production.   One covers the early morning, 2 covers the mid and later morning, 3 the afternoon and this disc for the night.  Parts one to three are further down on the main page.  

Otorongo And Tahuayo - Track 1 of 2

Recorded in the Black River Valley in south east Sweden.  A soundscape of birds at evening time.  Sedge Warblers, a 'booming' Bittern, 'drumming' Snipe and a pair of Whooper Swans fly overhead.  Recorded with a dummy-head, so it's best to listen back via headphones.  Dense forest on the far side of the river reflects the sound of the swans flying overhead - providing an echo on the near left hand side.

I'd headed into Senonches forest to record the dawn chorus. I found a nice spot that was fairly open so set my mics up, then ran some long cables off to the side so I could sit down. I'd been recording for around 20 minutes when a Roe Deer came walking by, probably on it's way to drink from the nearby pond. It was only about 15 metres from where I was sitting and when it saw me, it ran off, then started barking loudly. Roe Deer bark (often repeatedly) when alarmed, so I had clearly surprised it.

I'd headed into Senonches forest with the hope of recording the local Black Woodpeckers. As the sun began to rise the dawn chorus evolved, and all the birds of the forest were in full song. It took some time before the woodpeckers started tapping into tree trunks, but eventually there were quite a few in different locations all hunting for food. The wood taps reverberated nicely throughout the forest. In the recording we also here a distant Cock Pheasant as well as an Osprey.

Black Woodpeckers at Dawn - Foret de Senonches, Le Perche, France

On a recent trip to Ireland spent some time in Wicklow and explored Glendalough, a well known natural area close by. Although there was virtually no wind, it was raining a lot making recording conditions challenging. I arrived just as dawn was breaking and soon came across a robin singing high up in a tree.

Robin Singing In The Rain - Glendalough, Wicklow, Ireland

Foxley Wood is Norfolk’s largest remaining ancient woodland. This recording of the dawn chorus was taken on a windy morning in May at around 5 am. The forest floor was covered in a magnificent carpet of bluebells and the birdsong was not overly busy, with plenty of separation between species. We hear a song thrush in the foreground, with a blackbird that occasionally pops in and out. Wrens, tits and other common woodland birds can be heard in the background, as well as the occasional call of a cock pheasant.
