Our monthly guest residency of Samosa Funk muscled its way back onto the  myhousradio.fm airwaves on Monday 8th November 2021 with the incomparable Les Inferno and De Gama taking their positions at BLD Towers to lead you on yet another musical journey of musical discovery. 

First up is Il Professore - the crate digger supreme aka Les Inferno who has selected quite possibly the funkiest batch of tracks ever known to humanity! It is, of course all blended to absolute perfection and with that Les Inferno stamp of quality. You’re in for a treat! 

Taking things up a level for the second hour is De Gama. This set is a journey between the past, present and the future, carrying with it a distinct ‘housey’ vibe which, we have to say, really suits this Italian Maestro!   

Samosa Funk is back in town and demands your full and undivided attention.

Pete Ellison - Discography Lessons # 66

The Black Light Disco Show returned to the myhouseradio.fm airwaves a with another tanker full of funkoleum injected disco juice to power your dance moves long into the night. 

For this show, our resident Goz was on hosting duties from his tree house console located deep within the BLD Towers arboretum (last time he hosted the show from there it took six of us and two whole days to find him!) 

Joining Goz this week we have a special guest from Eugene, Oregon in the US - the incredibly talented Rortron!  

Rortron’s (aka Rory Beck) interest in music began with thunderously percussive Metal (Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot), which then evolved into a taste for lyrical and catchy Hip-Hop (Gang Starr, Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang, and Hieroglyphics), finally arriving at the pulsating rhythm of Electronic music with the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, and Odesza.

This varied background, coupled with the exposure to a multitude of live and recorded musical genres shaped him into the DJ/Producer he is today. Rortron has his own style with sets that illicit the deep, layered textures that combine a mixture of the old and new, familiar with exotic, catchy with contagious.  His passion to share a truly memorable experience with his audience drives him to continually improve and evolve.

As a strong supporter of Eugene’s independent musicians and artists, he is familiar with the efforts involved in a close-knit music scene. Originally a songwriter and emcee, he has made impromptu performances on various stages throughout Eugene. In fact, it was his original collaborations with friends that brought him to Eugene and their continued support which keeps him here.

Naturally, we’re delighted to have Rortron on the show to make his BLD debut and we know you’re gonna love what he has in store.

The Black Light Disco Radio Show

Episode 71 was my last one of 2021, and I ended the year in funky style. Kept things eclectic as I try to, had some down and dirty funkers, some vintage funk, a fair smattering of edits and a couple of new ones from yours truly. 

In place of hour 2’s usual guest mix I instead bring you a very special showcase of the fabulous Discoholics Anonymous 2 compilation that was released earlier in December. Label boss Discoholic Ken very kindly invited me to record a mix of all the tracks to go up on the Discoholics Soundcloud page, and I was only too happy to oblige. So you’ll hear all 17 tracks in the course of the hour. The mix is in 2 parts - part 1 working upwards from my 100bpm disco chugger of a contribution, and part 2 holding steady at 122bpm to bring you the more uptempo numbers. 

I love this compilation, and am so proud of Ken for pulling together such an outstanding collection of tracks from a really great mix of new artists like myself alongside some of the most established names in the business.
