The first edition of Soundit festival combined thriving local talent with international heavyweights. Happy to release some of the recordings from those days alongside the Refuge Worldwide family.

In the Pitchfork review of Pépe's 2023 album "Reclaim" [Lapsus] we are warned that "No matter where you think you are in one of Pépe’s mercurial tracks, the weather is shifting beneath, and a blinding change is underway." (The best electronic music of 2023) Valencian producer Pépe has gracefully traversed the realms of techno, bass music, breakbeat and IDM in recent years. Armed with a sound that is inherently heartfelt, moody, and emotional, he has built a solid reputation among fans and the press, including the 2018 “Spanish Producer of the Year” award on DJ Mag and a Best electronic albums of 2023 on the aforementioned Pitchfork. Crystalline melodies, smooth pads, and complex rhythm programming, accompanied by contrasting soundscapes in a glitch-adamant array of music, Pépe’s production has fostered the passionate support of highly regarded DJs and producers such as Ben UFO, Peggy Gou, Objekt, CCL, Special Request and Mount Kimbie through releases on Lapsus, Naive, Church and several cult DJ labels. Through this he has become a sought-after producer with an impressive array of commissioned remixes, including work for RAMP Recordings, Diynamic and Midnight Themes, among others. This exceptional track record coupled with his passion for dancefloors has led him to perform across Europe and Japan at renowned nightclubs and festivals, including a stellar residency at the Patterns club in Brighton.

PÉPE | SOUNDIT Festival 2025 x Refuge Worldwide x Canino FM

A stranger to none in our corner of the musical world, Qeone has quickly become one of those must listen labels for each release that comes by our proverbial desks. Fantastic sound design, jazz-like tempos and improvisation mean molds are constantly being broken and rebuilt in the artists’ imagination. This focus on experimentation and fresh ears has laid the groundwork for a hotbed of creativity. A label is very much a reflection of those that run it, to the surprise of none Polygonia aka Lindsey Wang heads the imprint, and I can’t think of a better example of this concept. Simply her production chops, curatorial skills, work ethic, and attention to detail are all constantly on display with this project. Not even to mention the artwork, which she also creates for each release.

For Qeone’s sixth and final release of 2025, Lindsey looks to Mexico City via Berlin based Viiaan and her forthcoming EP titled ‘Taiko’. Japanese for drum, the four tracker is a raucous affair, with bright percussion leading the way through syncopated tempos and an upbeat energetic atmosphere that gets the body moving.

Rounding out the EP is Azkhar, a four minute wild ride through esoteric melodies and what seems like a molding of genres. Is it half-time, is it breaks, is it tribal bass, who knows. The results speak for themselves as heavy bass elements rumble under as the label states, ‘rhythmical chopped reese drones and flowing tribal grooves.’

Azkhar and the remainder of the Taiko release will be out on the 4th of December.

"The sound as sculptural matter. More than a descriptive metaphor, such hypothesis is the creative principle of producer Yogev Freiilichman (Jerusalem). In “Air” (ZABRA012), four compositions dissect themselves, exposing an extreme physicality consisting of elasticities and cracks, compact masses and atmospheric torrents that escape as quickly as they appear. Crosswise, motives of the dub heritage are recognized, updated here in the light of other ramifications, from grime to IDM. But, living up to the assumption of a matter vitalism, each theme develops itself in a different way. 

“Hot Air” is a free game of algorithmic parameters that have been left to you. “Cold Air”, more than any other track, explores the atmospheric dimension that crosses the EP. "3inch" houses a spoken word over a touching melodic harmony that soon proves to be temporary. "Dry Air" closes the record with claustrophobic bass and abrasive maneuvers in a dystopian setting. An EP with free will, for multiple listenings and rediscoveries."

Peder Mannerfelt splits the difference between playful immediacy and daring experimentation. You’re as likely to find him premiering a live show at Berlin’s Atonal festival as pulling apart fabled techno meccas from Berghain to Fabric with synapse-frying precision. One minute he’s being asked to remix Björk, and the next he’s dropping EPs of non-conformist techno for Karenn’s Voam label. 

As a prolific collaborator throughout his career, Mannerfelt has veered from the orchestral tension of Roll The Dice (with Malcolm Pardon) to the anything-goes maximalism of Aasthma (with Pär Grindvik). As a producer, he’s worked on every one of Fever Ray’s acclaimed albums and live shows, as well as projects from alt music heavyweights such as Smerz, Blonde Redhead and Glasser. His Peder Mannerfelt Produktions label has become another outlet for his singular approach, presenting his work alongside similarly experimental operators like Sissel Wincent, Machine Woman, Klara Lewis and Hodge. 

More recently, his PM+ series celebrates the immediacy of club-focused tracks, and Mannerfelt thrives on the energy and community of contemporary club music. What makes him different is his response to that energy, as he pushes the music’s possibilities in wild, unpredictable directions.
