We are back in 2013.
Beginning of 2012 a new name appeared on the international dancefloor: CLAPTONE (artist of the year 2012 in German Trendcharts DCC).
The track ‘CREAM’ became the worldwide Top Track (No.2) of Beatport in the category Deep House and was among the Top 10 of the most charted tracks for 2012 on Resident Advisor.
The new year brings 2 more surehots for the clubs: WRONG & NO EYES featuring JAW from dOP.
Early support by Tensnake, Solomun, Noir, Laurent Garnier, DJ T…

In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded darkness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone.
Years spending wandering medieval landscapes have informed Claptone’s view of the world, experiencing both magical mystery and muted melancholy he enchanted onlookers with occult instruments and beguiling sounds. Forever surrounded by a sense of intrigue, the world soon cottoned on to the elusive yet enchanting musical powers of this otherworldly beast. The results are that today his shamanistic sonic powers take him all around the world.
Whilst Claptone has continued to roam in his own circles, 2012AD proved to be a year dominated by his infectious ‘Cream’ track. It became an immediate hit, topping new world charts at Beatport and RA, whilst the sonic conjuring of the ‘Night On Fire’ EP also lured all those who heard it, with the result another Top 20 hit. But that’s not all, for the creativity flows freely in our hero, and his ‘Another Night’ also proved to be just as successful on the dancefloor. Deep and woozy, the Claptone sound pairs theatre with tragedy, feel good vibes with acute melancholia and imbues each groove with a Rhodes laced funk, an organic string hook and myriad earthy elements.
Up to the present day, Claptone releases have been birthed on Germany’s influential Exploited label, picking up props from the likes of Pete Tong, DJ Sneak, Soul Clap, DJ Hell, Jesse Rose, A-Trak along the way. Who or whatever Claptone is, it is alive, with a life of its own, evolving and revolving in equal measure, exploring new sounds naturally and forever taking inspiration from long gone and occult worlds.
So far, esteemed and influential dancefloors at clubs in Berlin, London, Paris, Melbourne, Shanghai, New York and many others around the world have fallen under the sonic spell of this secretive alchemist. The future is unpredictable for Claptone, but a new release ‘Wrong’ including the track ‘No Eyes’ with the inimitable JAW from French funsters dOP is on the horizon. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours…

We had the honour to have one of our favourite acts remixed by Exploited mainstay Claptone. The Original Version of 'I'm Aquarius' can be found on Metronomy's recent album 'Love Letters' and is a cocktail of lo-fi synths and clipped, nocturnal rhythms. Now Claptone added some of his magic which brought us to this catchy result made to be played out in the clubs. With friendly permission from Because Music.

May 19 will see the release of "Y-A-M-L," b/w "Roulez Jeunesse," a new 12" from Bottin via 2MR. 
"Y-A-M-L" has nearly 10 years of history behind it. Bottin produced most of the instrumental almost a decade ago when he had bedroom studio and his girlfriend at the time came up with the "You are my love" (hence the title 'YAML') hook and the first notes of the melody. The song is about a somewhat destructive yet playful relationship: the girl is willingly submissive and mixes reality with her dreams - she portraits her lover as dominant while she's in fact leading the game. Bottin tried to record it, but something wasn't quite right and struggling to find the right singer for the project the song was put on hiatus.
Cut to nearly a decade later and a final mixdown was completed at Waterland Studios - a unique recording studio in the historic center of Venice, Italy. During those 10 years the melody, lyrics and even singers changed many times until finally Bottin enlisted his Bowie-obsessed friend Lavinia Claws (she previously sang on his track "Lies" from the LP Punica Fides). Lavinia helped out with the final lyrics and recorded the vocals in Berlin. Lavinia will also be starring in the forthcoming music video of the song.
The flipside of the record, "Roulez Jeunesse," premiered here is Bottin's soundtrack to an imaginary amusement park. The exact origin of the French saying "Roulez Jeunesse" isn't known but it evokes the rides and bumper cars in fairs. The ride operator would yell 'Roulez jeunesse!' when everyone was locked in. The expression is now commonly used to mean that you're all set to go. The title seems fitting given the propulsive space disco vibe of the track which also includes a sample from an interview with Dan Lacksman from Telex (remember their classic track Moscow Disko?) talking about synthesizers, saying that there's a musical groove within the machines themselves.

The “Under the Covers” EP is a collaborative project started by David Marston and Brigitte Zozula. During an impromptu rehearsal session, David and Brigitte decided to record reinterpretations of songs they had previously written and performed together. 
The material on the EP consists of a rework of “Pussy”, originally written by Marston and Nick Monaco, “Trust Me”, written and composed by Marston and Zozula, and lastly, a song inspired by an African Soul ballad. The music fuses elements of Disco, RnB, Reggae, Dub, Jazz, and Latin music

Jules shows his most elaborated work to date evolving to a more band oriented production filled with plenty of live instruments and vocals as seen on "Free as a man" and "Dont want to talk about it". On the B side "Rhythm for the garden part I" is a mad ride driven by live percussions and a drum machine.
