He swam though the sea, the tide roped him in, the water was cold and stole his breath away. The light was on inside, the photos on the wall, the dust grew grey and thick, and the book remained unread. The lock had rusted gold, hollow without a key, the boy had slowly aged, his feet above the ground, they haunted his dreams, he says he’s no recluse, the truth it lay behind, hidden beneath his eyes, he left that book for years, questions piled on it, and was there an answer? That he was searching for. The wind it blew for years, the cold entered his skin, peaceful it may seem, he struggled quietly. The sea where he once swam, he simply could not bear, and far below the surface, he was sinking deep. The book remained unread, new upon the shelf, still his heart was not alone, just waiting to come home.

セッションをメインに活動し、シーンの外にいたアナログシンセシストのHarvey Sutherlandはカセットテープを手に持ってメルボルンのアンダーグラウンドシーンから現れた。2013年、メルボルンのThis Thing Recordsより『Low Attitude』をMike Kay名義でリリース。2014年、HarveySutherland名義で、This Thing Recordsよりカセットテープ『Nexus』をリリース。さらに同年、ギリシャのEchovolt Recordsより『EDGES EP』とメルボルンのVoyage Recordingsからの『Brothers EP』により、ダンスフロアの熱狂的なファンを得た。これまでに、People’s Potential Unlimited、Plastic WorldやVoltaire Recordsからも自身の楽曲やリミックスなどの作品をリリース。Bradley Zero、Tom Noble、Motor City Drum Ensembleなどのサポートを受けている。2015年には、FACT Magazine「Australian Electronic Artists to Watch in 2015」 の一人としても名前を挙げられていて、同年5月にヨーロッパでの11日間に及ぶのクラブでのツアーを果たした。そして、Motor City Drum EnsembleのレーベルMCDE Recordingsから『Bermuda EP』をリリース。レーベルのテイストをもっとも反映したEPとなっている。彼のフリースタイルのライブは、Juno60シンセサイザーをコントロールをしながら、新しいフレーズやモジュレーションのループを構築した電子音のブギーの冒険ともいえる。

―収録した場所はどこですか？

現在滞在中のイギリス・ブライトンのホテルで収録しました。


―ミックスのコンセプトを教えてください。

とくにコンセプトはありませんが、最近よく聴いている楽曲を使用しました。ポストパンクだったり、少し変なファンクだったり、ドラムの面白い曲やパーカッションの曲だったりが最近のお気に入りです。


―日本の印象について教えてください。

日本は好きな国のひとつで、ここ何年かは年に１度は訪問してます。日本で初めてライブを行うことができて、すごく楽しみにしてます。


―今後の予定を教えてください。

今年中にリリース予定の12インチを現在制作しています。7～8月には自分のバンド、Bermudaでのヨーロッパツアーを予定しているので、アジアの国でも実現できるといいですね。
