This song meant a lot to me when I was being bullied at school when I was 10. In my mind it was partly things I wanted to say to the boy who was bullying me and partly a homage to the escape I found listening to the radio at the time. Analysing the lyrics as an adult however, I suspect the writer may have been a rather sad & bitter, jilted man. My childhood view of it is better.
