With a heatwave on the horizon we've been feeling rather summer-obsessed here at Data Transmission, so where better to look for our latest freebie, than sunny Spain? 

We've teamed up with Ramiro Lopez - who's currently in high spirits, following his debut EP for Octopus Black, Inside, and the announcement of his summer residency with Suara at Sankeys Ibiza - to give away one of the Spaniard's secret weapons: the mighty 'Expression'.

The stomping track is available to download here, and you can catch Ramiro in action at Sankey's alongside Suara head honcho Coyu, Umek, Sonny Fodera, Dosem, Olivier Giacomotto and​ Carlo Lio​.

Saved Records are delighted to welcome underground champion Hot Since 82 into the family. Long-time admirers of the Leeds based producer’s consistently uncompromising and visceral aesthetic, the imprint unleashes the Hot Since 82 sound along with a remix from the ever-adventurous Matthias Meyer.

“Play The Room” is a hypnotic and heady workout that draws potency from its simplicity. Built around jacking drum machines and a throbbing, relentless wall of bass, the track grows into a powerfully addictive beast through a series of subtle steps. Slight gearshifts in tempo and weight of the bottom end facilitate a much more absorbing sound, pulling us into dubby, warehouse atmospheres. There is a warm a smoggy overtone that will suit summer dancefloors, but combined with a deft musicality that piques the ear.

Hamburg’s Matthias Meyer highlights his singular attitude once again with his wonderfully expansive remix. Rich in ambient, cinematic textures but driven by deep bass and agile breaks; the remix finds a rare beauty in its contradictions and complexities. Melodic, emotive and thoughtful yet hardened, purposeful and melancholic, this remix has the ability to lead you into the unknown forest.

Hitting the music press headlines recently was news of a second Floorplan album.  Now M-Plant delivers a first taste of this highly anticipated release with two tracks from the album, ‘Music’ and ‘Tell You No Lie’.

Floorplan is already well known as Robert Hood’s house, disco, funk and gospel outlet, which this year evolves into a family affair with co-production alongside his daughter, Lyric.  ‘Victorious’ will be the second Floorplan album and follow-up to 2013’s ‘Paradise’ which spawned ‘Let’s Ride, ‘Baby Baby’ and the massive ‘Never Grow Old’.

Set to replicate the success of ‘Paradise’, ‘Victorious’ will be released in June.  To precede it, the single released at the end of April is comprised of the bumping house groove of ‘Music’ (which received it’s first global airing on B.Traits’ BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra show in February) and the disco rotations of ‘Tell You No Lie’. 

Both tracks are exceptionally infectious, with tough beats, glorious vocal reprises and sure not to disappoint.

MOUTH TO MOUTH 10:

The original single came about during a very productive week for me. I made 5 songs in in 7 days right before one of the early DEMF festivals in Detroit. There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then, and I had just returned from a two week tour of Europe where I was ingesting so much new music. I sat down at my studio in Detroit and tried to recreate what I was hearing in the clubs. Mouth to Mouth was the stand out track of that session, and I made the entire thing in a few hours. I recorded it mostly live, tweaking and building the synths and muting/unmuting the channels in real time and just recording the result. I cleaned it up a little bit afterward, but left the length and overall arrangement intact. I remember playing it for a few people right away and it was clear something special was happening. There is something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all. 

For this remix package, I chose every remixer. I went to my close friends, favourite remixers, and people I have always respected. There is such a diverse spread of talent with these artists, I knew every remix would be completely different. Each remix represents a different side of techno, which is where all of these artists come from. Everyone put a piece of themselves into this, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing to the project.

Matthew Dear's Audion alias has always channelled a weird and wonderful sound, one that blurs the line between electro and techno by using abrasive tones and alien gurgles. We've taken great joy over the years seeing what this side-project has given birth to and no track is more seminal than 'Mouth To Mouth'.

The 12-minute epic took over clubs worldwide and became an instant classic. Now fans of the cut can collectively jump for joy as 'Mouth To Mouth 10' is set to drop and it's one of the best-looking remix albums we've seen in ages.

Dear has called upon artists like Boys Noize, Dubfire, Dense & Pika, Guy Gerber and Jamie Jones to rework his monster classic and we've got the very first spin of the Jones' remix.

Aus Music follow up a string of records from fresh signees Paul Woolford, Tom Trago and Recloose with the return of a long term friend and label favourite Marquis Hawkes. Hot on the heels of his recent LP ‘Social Housing’ - the Berlin based artist lines up ‘Doornroosje’, a tight a two-tracker that remains consistent with his output on Aus: dancefloor-focused jams suffused with simplicity and soul.

‘Discopuss’ kicks things off with a potent combination of samples and hardware as sassy Funk samples are propelled by tough crunching drums. The title track then follows up with piano stabs and busy, percolating synth lines driven at a pacy rate to rapturous effect rounding off another solid addition to Aus Music’s catalogue.

After a whirlwind year in 2011, fledgling young German producer Markus Suckut steps up once again on Figure SPC with three perfect exercises in modern basement techno. Groovy, yet stripped and decidedly minimalist, a breathtaking rolling bassline first becomes apparent in, 'Hunt'. Then, lurking in the the space between the pounding, engineered kick we find a restless static tone, that filters, ignites and shimmers around Markus' no-nonsense beats. Heavy drama with only a few elements! The grinding 'Section' works a playful, squeeking synth riff in and out of a snaking drumtrack, with more pummeling sub bass energies. An adept hand at arranging his tracks to be full of tension and suspense, Suckut captures the energy in this 6 minute funk-weapon. In a more classic dub-style, 'Scent' pushes the deeper echelons of the dancefloor with its bouncing sub bass and lurking, resonant synth flourishes. Once again its all in the subtle mechanics and machine funk of this tooly, atmosphere builder.

Tom Trago is back, giddily dancing out of the studio into the dizzying light of a European summer. Tucked under his arm are the masters for his third album, The Light Fantastic.

Since his most recent appearance on Rush Hour last autumn, Trago has spent most of his time in the studio. Over four memorable months, he constantly jammed, recorded, tweaked and produced tracks, until he had enough strong material to put together what might just be his best full-length to date. 

Along the way, he was joined by an impressive guest list of guests and collaborators from Amsterdam and beyond, all of who were roped in after “popping into the studio to hang out”. 

You’ll have to wait to hear the album, but the good news is that there’s an enticing teaser of what’s to come in the shape of this formidable three-track taster. One of the tracks, the chiming, loose-limbed, bass-heavy workout “Avenido”, is exclusive to this 12”.

When he sat down to make The Light Fantastic, Trago was keen to recapture the essence of his early work, and particularly the melodic warmth, kaleidoscopic chords and robust grooves that characterized his 2009 debut album, Voyage Direct. This time, though, he wanted to rely less on samples and apply the lessons learnt from four years of largely acclaimed production work. As a result, The Light Fantastic oozes a gleeful sense of fun, whilst retaining the depth and definition that has always been a hallmark of Trago’s work.

The two album tracks featured on this sampler confirm the rich dividends that this new approach brought. “True Friends”, featuring the combined talents of Brit-in-Amsterdam Ben Westbeech and local hero San Proper, bristles with loved-up positivity, all bubbling electronic melodies, fuzzy vocoder vocals and jaunty, bottom-end bounce.

Then there’s the small matter of “Two Together”, an extra large helping of the kind of loopy, feel-good deep house funk with which he made his name. Expertly teased, tweaked and produced, it sees nagging hooks, darting synths, jazz keys and disco stabs riding a relentless, full-throttle groove. Co-produced with Berlin-based Dutch producer Steffi, it’s nothing less than a wide-eyed late night rush. If it doesn’t have you tripping The Light Fantastic, nothing will.
