Minimalism isn't always what you think it is ( like classic Chain Reaction) - sparse, longform, gradual development, long crossfades, around a core looping phrase or rhythm. One subspecies of minimalism is this: Minimalese - lush, ecstatic, deeply textured, wending its way around a swung core loop or riddim (closer to #SteveReich, say, or even #OrenAmbarchi). This mix, in particular, will leave you feeling buoyant. The whole EP is upbeat (for a change). Maybe we need these small doses of feelgood as an antidote to all the grim fuckery that's going on around us and in us? (<written in early May, 2025. Will probably be deleted some time later).

This project has been an exercise in musical asceticism, and is a repudiation of gear videos that make you want to buy all the latest and hottest equipment. Equipment that, once acquired, will quickly gather dust in some distant shadowy corner.
It's a showcase of despicable cheap plastic junk destined for the trash bin, and all the limited potential it has on offer, if you just put all your time and energy into it (while being chronically sick). The results might not amount to much, yet probably to more than you expected.

The audio is recorded from the line output that my father added. Thanks, dad!

Notable keyboard limitations: Only one note can be played at a time (two notes if no note is already playing). Every note sounds for the same duration, no matter how long a key is pressed, though only up to six notes can sound at once.
Play too fast and notes will cut off due to the polyphony limit. Play too slow and notes will reach their end before you want them to and leave an undesired gap. I've used a metronome while recording for those reasons.
The vibraphone setting was especially difficult to write for, since it sounds distorted if too many notes sound at the same time.
Also, damn those keys!
