Ahead of his Dimensions debut, we’re happy to welcome Ukrainian supreme selector and Closer resident, Noizar to our mix series.

Here he delivers a stunning mix of breaks, electro and techno, immaculately programmed with records he has lovingly sought out. 

Nazar joins us (alongside his b2b partner Borys) this summer for the Closer x Trommel takeover on the Olive Grove.

The Closer (Kyiv) resident and Lifeform record shop owner, Andre aka Shakolin - having played for us in London at the end of 2023 - shares a recent home recording for the 18th instalment in the series.

Plaintive speech from Oppenheimer and bleepy techno open the recording with a sense of foreboding for what's about to unravel.

Shakolin meanders his way through dubbed out acid lines and a particularly relevant style of glitchy, minimalist techno. A soft and reflective moment of electro shifts the mix down a gear before proceeding with driving, 4X4 grooves. 

This 75 minute recording comes from a seasoned digger and selector who has rightfully made his way to some of the best underground stages and platforms in the world.

Closer residents Karine and Shakolin have made a name for themselves off the back of a seemingly bottomless pit of interesting underground records. This mix is completely on-brand; a patient blend of moody electronics across the club continuum, put together with the confidence of a couple of seasoned selectors.

Two long-awaited tracks which hold a special place in the label’s soundsystem, rich with rhythms and encouraging melodies: morning hours synthy Phoenix by the Ukrainian scene godfather Borys and a bassy, Memphis-like, minimalistic techno from Unai Trotti hiding under the new alias Yzer, on the flip side.

@noizar's sound goes far beyond conventional house or techno. The Ukrainian DJ, who is now based in Amsterdam, has long since proven this with countless closing sets as resident at Kyiv’s legendary Closer club. It was there where he stood out for unearthing minimal techno treasures in places no one else looks. As such, you can always be sure that wherever Noizar mixes crop up online, they will be flooded with cheeky "ID?" requests, and quite often you will find they come on his vinyl-only Wicked Bass label.

For his Dekmantel Mix he offers a perfect snapshot of what he does in the booth: carefully dug out delights that don't really fit in usual categories. But they do tap into a specific deepness and groove that is rooted in Kyiv's minimal scene and the dance floor of Closer club. It results in a tight, taught hour of body music that perfectly balances function and form.
