The 286 include a string section of electric cellos and violins who play a feature role in the band, both in terms of style and sound. We aim to fuse rock & pop with classical music, creating something entirely original and different in the process.

The 286 were formed by Spencer Hannabuss (guitar/vocals), looking to achieve a long held ambition to break away from the tried and tested indie rock band line up, and create a band that had a less conventional approach to songwriting and performing.

The 286 released their second EP in April 2014. Their debut release, 'A Victory for Battalion 286', was a huge success and established them as the UK's only rock & roll orchestra.

After a brief recording hiatus the band is currently in the studio recording more tracks and are looking to have multiple releases out in 2018

Formed PASS THE WORD with Mark McVay and Tony Interval in November, 1976. Written and recorded over 100 songs.  Generated 7 Original LP's. Also was lead vocalist for Bands in the Pittsburgh Area. These are samples of PASS THE WORD recordings and Live Performances with local cover bands: The Katts, The Marcus Tyler Band, Smokin' and the Wise Guys.
