Rude Kid is an artist in his prime. With collaborators including Skepta, JME and Wiley, the young producer born as Shehzad Zar is part of a new wave of grime talent enjoying their moment in the sun. 

Rude Kid first received support from radio staples Mistajam and Annie Mac, before his records were getting played by some of the scene’s most influential selectors. These days, he’s recognisable as one of the sound’s key producers. 

As we prepare to welcome him to the next FABRICLIVE tomorrow night, Rude Kid has pulled together a fresh mix for us to keep us in anticipation for his Room One appearance. 

There’s more than one reason we’re looking forward to having him here, though. We’re also stoked to reveal that Rude Kid’s set tomorrow night will include an exclusive live premiere of his new single alongside a special guest. We can’t quite say much more than that for now – until then we’re wrapping our ears around this typically high-energy mix in preparation.

Program’s seminal 100th release has finally dropped and so far, it’s delivered two bodies of work; an array of 54 exclusives through its most recent package as well as a sampler which acted as its prelude. For the next segment, the sister-label of Ram Records is unleashing yet more new music. With it comes a host of reworks, taking classic Program tracks from the imprint’s catalogue and having roster guests add their spin to each selection, following in the wake of their colossal Skantia 'Bassline Secret' reboot. 
Whilst fellow Russian artist Nais takes on the sounds of Teddy Killerz and Coppa through ‘Jackyl & Hyde’, Legion & Logam’s ‘Afterthought’ is given the deluxe treatment by Gerra & Stone. What follows is Legion & Logam stepping up to give their own version of Gerra & Stone’s ‘L.I.E.S’, Kung’s expert reimagining of Kelle’s ‘Repirator’, Levela taking Wickaman & RV’s ‘Sound Clash’ through his own lens, Subview adding his take on ‘The Truth’ from Stealth with Fats on vocals and Monument Banks making a welcome addition alongside Aperio’s ‘Grey To Blue’. Then to finalise the track list, Zero Zero’s rework of MD ‘Fiction’ and the Sound in Noise mould of Frankee’s ‘Firehorn’ leaves a delicious taste. 

Overall, it’s yet another celebration of what the platform has spent nearly a decade creating. So once again… It’s time to get with the Program. One which remains as groundbreaking as ever, 100 releases on.

The valley was a lush place, with flora and fauna of all types contained between its mountainous peaks. This way it had been for ages untold, and those who lived there wanted for not in their idyllic existence. Untouched they were by the world, hidden away in a pocket of paradise unknown to all others. Indeed, theirs was a blessed existence, but such gifts were a treasure that could not go unnoticed by all. On that fateful day, a shadow had passed the sun, and it was in the duration of this mid-day’s night that from high upon the mountain a thunderous roar did erupt. On a cold frigid wind came a new beast to the valley, with scales that glittered white as fresh fallen snow. Reptilian as it seemed, upon vermillion wings did it soar, and from its breath came the fury of deep winter’s hoar. It withered the forests that those who lived there called home, and those caught in its wake were frozen to the bone. Not even stone could stand against the great being’s wrath, and reduced to foundations were all buildings in its path. From within these ruins it plundered an invaluable hoard, taking the treasure of the valley’s great lord. With one final roar the beast then took to the skies, returning to the mountain from whence it came on high. Down below lay the valley, its inhabitants frozen firm, in fear under the shadow of that great ICY WYRM.

MIZO returns to EATBRAIN to debut his latest EP, which follows in the destructive wake of his Dust Devil EP on the label as well as further recent releases on labels including Neuropunk Records & C4C Recordings. Filled to the brim with the producer’s characteristic ferocious tones, the EP features a set of four tracks surging with serpentine basslines and deviously distorted sonics as MIZO leads the latest onslaught of the EATBRAIN horde from atop the eponymous ICY WYRM.

Emperor, having proved himself with heavyweight releases on VISION, Critical Music, UKF, Drum&BassArena, Symmetry, Inspected, Neosignal, remixes for Hospital and Blackout has become a force to be reckoned with.

Since his debut release - ‘Monolith’ back in June 2012, Emperor’s presence within the D&B scene has gone from strength to strength. Followed by the incredible ‘Jackhammer EP’ on Inspected records, which exposed a different creative side for the Lancashire born producer. His ‘Begin EP’ released on Critical in 2013 furthered his notoriety. Collaborations with Austrian powerhouse, Mefjus, on the prolific Hello World series, dominated charts and reinforced his stature as one of the heavyweights of Drum & Bass.

Deep, dark, emotive, uplifting... spanning a range of styles whilst retaining a unique quality. Each track bringing you a new twist on that distinctive Emperor sound. 2018 also saw the debut album for his alter-ego, Monuman. After releasing two collaborations on The Upbeats critically acclaimed 'No Sleep Till' project, Emperor started his own imprint - 'EMPR', starting out with Crybaby/Goblin, Daft Funk/Convex, as well as an exclusive series of tracks exclusive to Patreon.

Emperor is without doubt one of the most exciting producers in bass music, gritty mechanics combined with beautiful soundscapes, intricate sound design, and all out rawness. A distinctive sound to behold.
