Wow, I really hope that Alina recovers fully. A take away from this accident that was completely missed was that using a grigri would have likely reduced the fall significantly. Of course grigri can still open if it gets forced into the rock, which is why you always would have a piece above the anchor before launching out. Alina mentioned not placing above the anchor because rope drag was a concern. In a scenario such as this you should still place something above the anchor and have your belay unclip it after you have placed a few more higher up. This protects you early on while avoiding rope drag. I also have to say that Stanford climbing club has an unusually high number of accidents. I think there is a culture of unnecessary risk taking among bay area climbers in general.

Got home after working that Graveyard grind, Music on my mind. Thought I’d try a little something different and attempt to play some down tempo, possibly chill jams. 
I learn a lot from listening to myself mix, so figured I'd record since the Denon Prime go makes its insanely easy.
 Anyway, forgot what my goal was about half way through..(chill vibes!!) 
 I tried to reign myself in with some classic Layo & Bushwacka, but was having too. much. FUN! 
Definitely Not looking for perfection just getting some much loved and needed practice in, 
Started around 119 BPM ended at 128 BPM (cause 128 =Magic)

Alina and Ben were climbing the Braille Book in Yosemite Valley. When Alina slipped while leading the third pitch, she fell much, much further than expected and suffered a serious spinal injury. Around sunset on November 7, 2015, Angela Uys (26) was at an anchor partway up Snake Dike on Half Dome, preparing to rappel. Her tether system was not effectively clipped to the anchor, and when she weighted the system it failed. She fell approximately 500 feet to her death. In this episode, Ashley speaks with Yosemite climbing ranger Jesse McGahey, who responded to and investigated this tragedy, and the two discuss what went wrong and how similar accidents might be prevented.
