Some say he is a proactive, self-motivated, goal-driven, yet grounded, trustworthy and methodical man and that he is a well-mannered, solution-driven and extremely focused musician.  All we know, is that he’s called the Rev! 

My Soundcloud page is all about me and my music, whereas the Smiley & The Hedge webpage above is all about the band that me, my Dad and my soul brother Too Tall Paul founded back in 1987.  Smiley & The Hedge mainly cover classic rock songs and is all about having a good time, all the time (in the words of the mighty Spinal Tap!).  My partner-in-crime in the band, 'The Hedge', is also on SoundCloud - check him out as well.  I'm also indebted to another SoundCloud musician, my good friend, 'Pasztor', who has helped me considerably with my sound recording education over the years as well as doing awesome remixes of several of my songs which you can listen to here - check out his profile as well.  Azoomboy is another good friend of mine, also here on SoundCloud, who I sometimes play with in a live covers band.  I'm just happy to be able to share my music via SoundCloud and get to listen to other great musicians who in turn inspire me further.

Winwood was just a teenager when he rocketed into the international spotlight as the prodigious singer of the Spencer Davis Group (which also featured his brother Muff on bass). The blues and R&B-influenced rock of “Gimme Some Lovin’” and “I’m a Man” stood among the leading hits at the peak of the British Invasion, Winwood’s singing drawing comparisons to that of his idol Ray Charles - despite his tender age. Looking for a wider artistic palette, in 1967 he headed to the countryside with friends Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason, forging the collective spirit into Traffic, producing some of the most inventive and durable works of the psychedelic-tinged late-”60s.

In 1969 he and Clapton, having worked together briefly in the short-lived Powerhouse project, formed Blind Faith with Clapton’s Cream-mate, drummer Ginger Baker, and bass player Rick Grech, though the “supergroup” lasted just one acclaimed album and tour. Intending to mix English folk styles along with jazz and rock, Winwood started work on what was meant as his first solo album, but ultimately enlisted Capaldi and Wood in a reconvened Traffic for the landmark John Barleycorn Must Die album. An expanded Traffic lineup (including African percussionist Reebop Kwaku Baah) went on to make two of the most arresting albums of the early ’70s in The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys and Shoot Out At the Fantasy Factory, expanding on the jazz and world music elements. A scaled-back line-up brought the Traffic era to a close with 1974’s When the Eagle Flies. With 1977’s Steve Winwood, a rich solo career launched in earnest. Arc of a Diver (1980) featured the hit “While You See a Chance”, and subsequent solo albums Talking Back to the Night (1982), Back in the High Life (1986), and Roll With It (1988) produced era-defining songs including “Valerie,” “Higher Love,” “Back in the High Life,” and “Roll With It."

Following 1990’s Refugees of the Heart, Winwood and Capaldi reunited as Traffic for the 1994 Far From Home album and tour, the latter documented in the CD/DVD release The Last Great Traffic Jam. In 1997, Winwood teamed with producer Narada Michael Walden for Junction 7. In 2003 the critically acclaimed About Time was released which saw Winwood returning to the free-flowing spirit of some of his most enduring music. The 2008 follow up titled Nine Lives saw Winwood gain one of his highest billboard chart entries.

Currently, Winwood can still be found touring, predominantly keeping himself to the US and Europe but, most recently he has completed a tour of Australia and New Zealand with Steely Dan. When he's not touring with his own band Winwood is still regularly collaborating with ex Blind Faith band mate Eric Clapton. Having completed a landmark 3 night stand at Madison Square Gardens in New York in 2008 they have subsequently gone on to tour the wider US, Europe and now Japan.

Along the way, Winwood has also collaborated with and accompanied musicians from around the globe, including Jimi Hendrix (Electric Ladyland), Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, James Brown, Muddy Waters, Toots & the Maytals, Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, salsa greats Tito Puente and the Fania All Stars, Japanese innovator Stomu Yamashta and African percussionist Remi Kabaka, just to name a handful of dozens.

If one compares musicians to cooks, the members of 7he Myriads are definitely adherent to the French cuisine. First of all, eclecticism: they use a huge amount of ingredients, from spicy funk to fat house or dense space-rock. Second, the style: no matter how many ingredients get into the boiler, the meal served will always have tracks of the way the musicians write their music. Third, romance: even if initially 7he Myriads plan to record something really hard, the final composition will surely have a hint of dreaminess.

You have already heard about line-ups of international festivals and enthusiastic opinions of the western stars, so we had better mention the live actions of the band. 7he Myriads are trying to go away from the stereotype image of the electronic musicians with a laptop and midi-keyboard. That’s why live guitar and drums are inevitably a part of their concerts which add warm and juicy sound of analogue synthesizers. Last summer the band debuted with its album “∞” and then came EP Running Man with its remixes made in cooperation with Permanent Vocation and Light Speed Records. 

I was always tampered by two things in the oeuvre of 7he Myriads. First, it is the candidness which threads through their texts and tunes. While all Russian bands of the “new wave” are inclined to some kind of polish and gloss, 7he Myriads sound much more naïve and at the same time more sincere than their colleagues. Second is the saturation with plot. The compositions of 7he Myriads are not just a melody and rhythm, in their music there is a new story giving you special spirit in each track.

Если сравнивать музыкантов с поварами, то участники группы 7he Myriads – определенно адепты французской кухни. Во-первых, эклектика: в ход идет невероятное количество ингредиентов от пряного фанка до жирнющего хауса или густого спейс-рока. Во-вторых, стиль: сколько бы ингредиентов не попало в котел, в получившемся блюде всегда четко прослеживается фирменный почерк музыкантов. В-третьих, романтика: даже если изначально 7he Myriads планируют записать что-то по-настоящему жесткое, итоговая композиция обязательно имеет налет мечтательности.

Про лайнапы международных фестивалей и восторженные отзывы от западных звезд вы и так уже слышали, поэтому лучше упомянем живые выступления группы. 7he Myriads стремятся как можно дальше уйти от стереотипного образа электронных музыкантов с ноутбуком и миди-клавиатурой. Поэтому неизменной составляющих их концертов являются живые барабаны и гитара, дополняющие теплое, сочное звучание аналоговых синтезаторов.

Летом прошлого года у группы вышел дебютный альбом «∞», и следом ЕР «Running Man» ремиксы на который сделали музыканты с Permanent Vocation и Light Speed Records.

The Tirith are revisiting progressive rock for the 21st Century.  The band comprises Tim Cox (guitars), Dick Cory (bass and vocals), and Carl Nightingale (drums).  Originally formed in the 70s the band came back together in 2011 to play and record those songs from their previous incarnation that were never recorded, and newer material.  The band supported Focus at the Musician in Leicester on 21st September 2011, their first gig for 37 years. Since that time the band has played several gigs including Prog Festival Danfest2 and headlining at Greystones in Sheffield.
