Huldra PA #24 - Avion

My name is Robin Gorgis but I go by the alias Avion in the UG music scene. I had no thoughts at all behind this mix, just picked a bunch of random tracks from a bunch of different folders and made a soup out of it… No, but jokes aside. In fact, I’m trying to be very analytical to my  approach when I curate a mix or gig. I decided to do a longer one for you guys, something that you can enjoy on your way to work or as you’re dealing with everyday tasks at home to make time pass by. 
 
I just checked, and this is the longest mix on Huldra so far!

I would say that my style is heavily influenced by the danish and parisian style/scene. I am very drawn to the anatomy of life and existentialism - within the journey of our time, we get to experience a bunch of different emotions ranging from joy to sentimentality.

Eterna - the new label from Lisbon run by local mainstay Maria Amor - presents its first release 'Aerosol' by another
of the city's most interesting electronic music artists, BLEID. A true sonic polymath, BLEID is known for their range as
a music-maker and as a DJ: ambient, techno, reggaeton, guitar-led jams are all an integral part of their musical
lexicon. In this EP, though, all eyes are most definitely on the dancefloor.
Opener 'Rubber Band Land Calling' is an off-kilter percussive exercise held together by subby kicks that can't seem
to stand still, punctuated with lush pad washes that breathe life and optimism into the otherwise defying
atmosphere. Joyful resistance in a track. Drum experimentalism is also served in 'Hellastic Fantastic', with snares
taking center stage and the kick pattern zig zagging dynamically between broken motifs and four to the floor
hypnotism.
Things remain on an ever-changing drum-led tip - but get slightly darker - in 'New Age Waste', all sound design
impact and perfectly executed leftfield drum programming that wants us to shake our hips, not just bang our heads,
as we dance. 'Desce', homonymous to BLEID's party series, feels like an homage to queer rave innovation by
referencing iconic vocal and hoover hooks over a broken, genre -defying-dance beat.
Bored Lord steps in for the first remix of the record: the iconic American artist, part of the T4T LUV NRG family, picks
up BLEID's opening track and turns it into an imaginative breakbeat-led groover where vibes reign supreme.
Local legend and a key part of the Príncipe family Nídia redefines cadency and swing with a complex but natural -
and expertly sculped, watch out for the sound design on this one - reinterpretation of 'Hellastic Fantastic'. A hairraising finale to an EP that screams fresh perspectives: the way we make music and dance is changing and Eterna is here to document it.

On 20.04.24, @gioskimusic hosted an 'Animal Farm' event at beautiful At Giri Berlin. The concept of her events is simple: offer the audience exclusive b2b sets with the goal of creating a truly unique experience.
For this special edition, she decided to pair duos from Switzerland and Berlin.

Even though we’ve never met prior to this B2B session, the synergy between us, whose different styles and skills creates distinctive aesthetics,  forging us into one entity, merging the tracks into unexpected dynamics and layers and here is our results.

Launching off from sound design / ambient / drone and driving into rhythmical and dynamic techno.

We welcome our Sicily born and Copenhagen friend, Crisco, to Chalkboard this week. DJ, Producer and Promoter, Crisco takes us through a delicate selection of changing shapes and shades, depicting moments caught in their point of “cold crash”. Crisco’s project as a DJ portrays sensations but also smells and illusions, defining Crisco’s own Mediterranean sound. This mix has coexistence of different natures within the finite space of a room, which is identifiable in Sicily’s insular dimension.

Rawting's forthcoming debut EP 'On One'.

A three-track EP, exploring Rawting's signature style of bouncy, tom-heavy, percussive-led techno and deep, heavy-hitting breaks accented with chopped vocals.

Kicking the EP off is the title track, 'On One'. As the name suggests, it delivers the vibe of being on a mad one... A deep, driving, breakbeat stomper with some baddie vocals to match.

Re-Up is a bit of a homage to Rawting's hometown, London. After relocating to Naarm/Melbourne, he wanted to sonically capture a memory of nights had in London's most iconic parties and clubs. A bouncy techno track with some signature breaks snuck in, keeping in line with the EP. This track features a London Mix, along with a little easter-egg for those with keen eyes/ears/minds ;)

Rounding out the EP is Tagteam, another heavy-hitting breaks track intended for peak-time-play when you really want to heat things up. With this tune, he aimed to pay a subtle nod to his adolescence spent in DnB raves, incorporating wobbly basses and foghorns commonly found in rollers, but translated into a techno/breaks sphere.

With a key focus on breaks and low-end club-ready dancefloor weapons, this EP cements Rawting's production style and delivers a taste of his growing capabilities as an emerging producer.
