Part of the legendary grime crew Aftershock - past and present members include Tinie Tempah, Bruza and Ms. Bratt – D.O.K’s new offering is a masterclass in musical murkery. The four instrumentals take a trip down Grime’s 140bpm memory lane, while reimagining the future of the genre. “I made Grove awhile back and it was getting a good response at the grime raves and on specialist radio,” D.O.K tells i-D. 'Cherry Bomb' opens with classic eskimo Korg stabs and Street Fighter-esque samples, while 'Kaboom' boasts screwface giving bass and ice cold sirens. “I made the tracks originally for Mode FM's Beat Boss 2. The tracks on 'Grove EP' took me to victory,” he grins. “Terror Danjah heard the tracks and decided that he wanted to put the out on Hardrive.” Press play on 'Grove' and get yourself grimy…

Felix Raymon & Smuskind - Love & Devotion (ft. Luna Morgenstern)

Delsin Records' Inertia series is back with a powerful four tracker from Yan Cook. The producer from Ukraine has also released Delsin’s main label and associated Ann Aimee, as well as Planet Rhythm and Cooked. He makes straight up techno that arrests your attention and does just that again here.

'Toucan' is first and is a spangled, underwater techno track with gurgling lines wrapping round shuffling percussion and insistent drums. It's one to get into your head, while 'Puffin' is more physical, with more warped synths and paddy drums woven together into a fluid, rippling groove that never lets up. The drums on 'Dialogue' are deep and land with real resonance while dubby chords rattling out to the horizon. Last of all 'Flamingo' is the most manic of the lot, with hi speed synths and booming drums all coming together to make for powerful, sub shaking and room filling techno madness.

Danny Daze and synth-savant KINK embrace non-standard tempi with great success, while Axel Boman delivers sitar-laced gospelhouse without a bass drum. Elsewhere, your favourite producer’s favourite producer, Stimming, team’s up with pianist Lambert and the pair learn to fly.

KiNK - Megadrop

Dekmantel   and   Worldwide   FM-affiliated   DJ   Esa takes  Daymé Arocena's  steady-swaying, lighters-in-the-air   moment   to   more   uptempo   territories.   Propped   up   by   an   ‘80s   drum   machine   bounce,   soft-dappled   synths swirl   around   an   extremely   well-executed   xylophone   melody.   As   a   set   of   remixes,   they   achieve   no   mean   feat:   flipping   a melancholy   ballad   to   an   all-out   party   banger.   On   Eleggua,   Esa   takes   a   more   esoteric   angle   –   a   slow-build,   synths-and-bleeps chugger,   Daymé’s   distinctive   exaltations   are   the   track’s   driving   force.   

This   3-track  12”   is   another   impressive   effort   from   the   South African   DJ   sure   to   feature   heavily   in   clubs   worldwide.
