Outta My Mind (Acoustic DEMO)

"CONTROL" is the third song on my album “ROLL OUT THE FOG!” 

this song was sparked by a day spent on reddit when the news broke that Roe v. Wade was being overturned. my views on this decision have evolved to be more nuanced, but initially, it felt like another case of governmental overreach. the references to abortion in the song are subtle; it mainly portrays a woman who becomes a martyr after defying a corrupt, tyrannical state. 

the core message of the song is about autonomy—either take control of your own destiny, or as a community, assert your way of life against external pressures, or else you'll lose that control to the whims of others. the line "We forget the world can be forgiving, so close your eyes and send your missile on a wish" is unusual, but it's meant to suggest that instead of launching an attack, you might only imagine wishing harm upon an adversary. yet, by the end, the lyrics question, "Did we forget the world we wanna live in? closing eyes and sending missiles on a whim" - highlighting the danger of dehumanizing our 'enemies' to the point where violence becomes an impulsive reaction, which is precisely what we aim to avoid.

the music was heavily inspired by Stromae and his "Multitude" album. I mixed latin rhythms with indian percussion elements, peruvian panflutes, a cool groove and beautiful violin/french horn melodies. the chorus is inspired by 21 pilots and more modern electronic music.
