Am I Ever Gonna Fall Apart In NYC? (Astrolabe's Breakdown in Bed Stuy Remix)

I took down most of my bootleg remixes, but I put this one back up for a while. My best friend who died in a car accident when were in high school and he loved Pink Floyd and the Division Bell had come out when were in school.

I did this in 2005, and it always reminded me of him

I didn't enter the ACID PRO remix contest (do they still make that DAW? Ha!) But I got the Stems to New Order's Crystal in 2005. This was a fun remix to do. It's a bit too long and needs an edit, but still holds up well. The bass line was done on an old analog Maxi-Korg that I was given for free!

The remix title is a too clever by half reference to the movie Unbreakable ;)

Why this wasn't on the main release of Ray of Light and relegated to a b side is beyond me, its one of the most amazing tracks on ROL.

Doing the Dub mix is always fun! I learned from Shep Pettibone and others, just don't make the dub mix an instrumental, give them something new/extra! Which means Moby and Sarah McLachlan show up!

I was fascinated by Alison Krauss and Sting's 2003 Grammy performance of this track (Sting co-wrote and co produced it with Krauss) It was a challenging remix because the original is just free sung, in no real time signature, and I had to do a lot of time stretching and time compression of the vocals

I don't think they call it Trip Hop anymore, but this was a fun dub mix I did of Madonna's Nothing Fails in 2004. I guess it's downtempo now! Inspired by Rollo (of Faithless) and Rob D remix of U2's Numb (Gimme Some More Dignity Mix)
