It’s been a while since we heard about Kurt Baggaley: A very creative producer from Uk.
This guy is active since early 00’s and has been self-releasing most of his music. A lifelong dedication that brought hundreds of wonderful tracks under several names. He gained attention under the alias Scape One writing for various electro and techno labels in the early 2000’s. He also writes under guises as Tau Sagitarii, Dr Futurist and Tactical Systems and somehow all his productions are connected, part of the same research yet pretty distinct. 

That’s why we proposed Kurt to go for a 2 parts Ep as we did for few projects recently. First, as Kurt Baggaley, his real name and the project where the man indulges in magical flights of synth layers paving the way for delicate arpeggios and brilliant unexpected sound intrusions. We meant to make a beautiful artist-defining selection and so pick the 5 tracks that could illustrate best his amazing sound.
2nd part, Scape One - Same guy but this is definitely more hectic and insane. You can hear a wide range of influences as he mentions himself: Afrika Bambaataa, Cybotron, Tangerine Dream, Newcleus, Art Of Noise, Human League, Kraftwerk, Ultravox, Larry Heard. We were completely stuck when we first heard these tracks, "Fall Into The Sky" feels like that astonishing epic break track you have always been looking for and here it is! Part.2 coming soon.

Sus estudios Musicales comenzaron a muy temprana edad, escuchando artistas como Beethoven, Bach y Piazzolla, entre otros.
A los siete años de edad tuvo su primera presentación dando un concierto para piano.
Estudiar Música era lo que ocupaba la mayoría de su tiempo. Años más tarde fue reconocido por prestigiosos músicos Argentinos como uno de los mejores organistas académicos del país.
Formó varias bandas de rock, siempre con influencias de bandas como The Doors, Pink Floyd entre otros.
En el año 2002 comenzó a producir y mezclar música electrónica a través de diferentes estilos, continuando con el concepto musical que traía desde pequeño.
Todas sus producciones son reconocidas por la cantidad de melodías, percusiones y un proceso armónico característico de Mario
Participó en Labels como Alola Records, Sound Avenue, Massive Harmony Records, The Last Of Us, Stellar Fountain, Suffuced Music, por nombrar algunos.
Sus Tracks fueron escuchados en eventos como Moonpark (Buenos Aires), Exchange (Los Angeles), Ministry of Sound (London), Brown Alley (Australia), Love Theatre (Greece), Warung (Brazil), Woodstock (Netherlands), Jakarta ( Indonesia), Delta Radio, Kiss Presents por nombrar algunos.
Fue charteado en varias ocasiones por el gran artista Hernan Cattaneo quien fue y es el que le generó a Mario grandes oportunidades en su carrera.

Mario hizo el Warm Up a artistas tales como Nick Warren, Robert Babicz, Henry Saiz, Marc Marzenit, Andrea Cassino, Martín García, Pedro Aguiar, entre otros.

The Wall Deep Dark  Cover Version

We're happy to welcome LEPPIN on board. The German producer has releases under his belt on various quality labels such as Pure Records, Audio Safari and Der Turnbuetel to name a few and scored an underground hit with 'Charger' last year. For this MNL debut he drops two brand new tracks, 'Escape' and 'Polara' in his trademark warm bassline arp driven sound that finds the middle between deep- and progressive house.

On remix duties we welcome back Juliane Wolf to the label. The Berlin based producer subtly adds a dosage of funk to the EP's title track but keeps most of the original elements in tact. Maximum dance floor pleasure here! 

The other remix is done by Sasch BBC & Caspar, making this an all German EP. The duo have worked together on numerous occasions before and take a more melodic techno approach on 'Polara', deep and dark with it's haunting arpeggiators.

On the 99th release on Per-vurt comes a very special EP by Lily Pita with remixes by Juan Deminicis and Robert R. Hardy .. Juan's Remix was played by Hernan Cattaneo on his Balance Album Tour and supported by many of the legends !

Im Juni 2011 erscheint das erste Album von DJ Phono auf dem Hamburger Label Diynamic. “Welcome To Wherever You’re Not” ist ein Werk der Gefühle - der erweckten, der blühenden und der enttäuschten Gefühle. So etwas entsteht nicht über Nacht. Auch nicht in einer Serie von Nächten. Vielmehr haben sich DJ Phono und sein Produzent Jimi Siebels (A DIFFERENT JIMI / EGOEXPRESS / IT'S RECORDS) für die Realisierung jede Menge Zeit gelassen, zwei Jahre waren es insgesamt.

“Ich habe nicht konstant an dem Album gearbeitet sondern auf Momente gewartet, in denen es mir möglich war, aus einem Gefühlszustand heraus, Musik zu machen. Während der Arbeit ist es dann häufiger gelungen, eine Stimmung, die man in dem Moment verspürt, in der Musik einzufangen. Das ist für mich einer dieser Glücksmomente, die man als Musiker manchmal hat - das Gefühl, dass man so eine Stimmung durch die Musik konservieren konnte. Musik und Musiker als eine Art Medium, ... Gerade im letzten Jahr war ich oft in emotionalen Zuständen, die zu Momenten geführt haben, in denen ich das konnte. Und Jimi ist auch ein sehr spezieller Typ, mit feinen Antennen, der sich auf die Stimmungen der Stücke eingelassen hat - und er ist jemand, der viel von seinen Stimmungslagen in die Musik hineinbringt, ein fühlender Mensch.”

Das Resultat - “Welcome To Wherever You’re Not” - ist ein Album, das DJ Phono selbst gern hören mag. Und Jimi wahrscheinlich auch. Es definiert sich in einem Dazwischen, zwischen hier und dort, zwischen Main Floor und Backroom, zwischen groß und klein, zwischen gestern, heute und morgen, zwischen Pop und Club, kurz: zwischen den Welten. Auf dem Hamburger Fischmarkt beispielsweise, unweit des Pudels, wo DJ Phono gern auflegt, bemängelt man das viele Fleisch. Am Schlachthof wiederum, genau gegenüber von DJ Phonos Bunker-Studio, riechen sie den Fisch. Dafür freut sich der Blumenbinder an der Ecke und lobt den bunten Wildwuchs.

Eine gemeinsame Qualität der 12 Songs auf “Welcome To Wherever You’re Not” ist ihre seltsame Art von vornehmer Zurückhaltung. Ohne dabei zum Möbel oder zur Tapete zu verkommen, bitten sie höflich, vorsichtig und unaufdringlich um ein wenig Aufmerksamkeit. Einzig und allein “Soll ich ein Loch graben?” entwickelt sich in seinen stattlichen achteinhalb Minuten zu einem kleinen (Rave-)Drama: Wenn in der Mitte des Songs endlich die Bass-Drum einsetzt, fliegen die Hände in die Luft. Aber am Ende wirkt selbst dieser Ausreisser wie der nette, kleine Bruder der Sägezahn-Monster. Mit ihm drohen weder Dehydrierung noch Kreislaufkollaps oder Organversagen, stattdessen verbreitet das musikalische Smiley nur etwas sonnigere Euphorie.

Der Rest ist Wohlklang.
Die Essenz dieser Musik haben Björn Beneditz (WCW Gallery) und Carola Wagenplast (Jochen Schmith) im Artwork aufgegriffen und ein sublimes Booklet im Sinne von “Welcome To Wherever You’re Not” entworfen. Jedes Album wird von Hand gemalt und ist somit ein Einzelstück.

DJ Phono wird dieses Album auch live vorstellen. Extra dafür wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der stilsicheren Künstlergruppe Jochen Schmith eine Bühnenshow konzipiert, die im Rahmen der Release-Tour ab Herbst 2011 zu sehen sein wird. Eine Choreographie aus Halbleiterkristallen und Computerwissenschaft. Selbstentwickelte Prototypen aus Robotertechnologie und LEDs vollführen eine einzigartige, mechanische Tanznotation und bezirzen dabei Girls wie Boys. Klang und Bild finden zusammen und lassen uns am Ziel der Reise ankommen ...
