D-Vague Recollection

Well hello. Here’s some rustic Mountain Blues, played on extremely oxidized guitar strings, with me hollering from the mountain top. Hahahaha. The song hints at a personal authenticity, and the experience of possibly unraveling any prior conditioning (Pavlovian or otherwise) that may constrict our lives in some way. It’s also about the different personas we portray to the outside world. How we may act at work, or on a first date, or with our spouse, or kids, friends, enemies, those who hurt us, even our stage personas comes into play…. So this song is asking a lot of us. In other news, right now in June, the mountains are snow covered and it froze last night. That is late spring, early summer here. Gardenwise, this year, I am planting a lot more Brassicas: Kale, Cabbage and Broccoli, and they are growing well. I am going to try to fence off the carrot/beet beds, as the voles always eat more carrots and beets than I ever do. Onions, leeks and garlic have been growing since March. I transplanted 50 lettuce plants I grew from seed that I saved from last year’s lettuce. The berry bushes and fruit trees have really blossomed this year. There are squash, cukes, tomato and pepper plants inside by the window, to be transplanted outside next week, quite a mess… all of which keeps me busy…. Hahaha. Fuck money... Do what you love and change your world by creating whatever that love is. That's more valuable to you as a person no matter what your bank balance reads. Fact. Timed right you should also gain affluence from that love early in life too if you stick at it. Just believe it and do it and you will get what you endeavour for. You are a mirror. People won't understand your light and love and when that happens just tilt direction to find people that do and you can amplify that together. This is particularly important to understand before you enter deep romantic relationships. Ideally the person you end up with should reflect your good side and visa versa. You'll find more daily peace seeking that out and ultimately being comfortable in your own skin not in a relationship until you do. You may never find that life partner and that's ok too. It's your world not someone else's so make it a better world for yourself and the people you effect everyday. Remember this... Whatever negative you absorbed as kids from me and your amazing Mum is not you and it's not your fault. This is just a challenge we all face and again being aware of this young will help you deal with those demons sensibly. Focus on our positive sides which are both amazing and whilst becoming yourself and becoming better versions of us, just remember nobody is perfect and it's all too easy to seek out that negative energy you never transcended in your youth if you're not aware to release it and be at one with it. Once we all do that then Earth will be one big giant planetary festival. Bring it on

Bruce Klepper's beautiful piece "Chiaroscur" inspired me a few ideas about art that I wrote in French. I sang them over Bruce's instrumental, improvising some melodies and vocal harmonies, and here is the result.

Inspired by João Pernambuco's Graúna, I step out of a São Paulo wedding reception gig to the alleyway behind the ballroom.  My recording engineer stretches three microphones out the backdoor and I begin tracking...this is what the kitchen's catering crew heard.  It was a Brazilian Lemonade to my ears.

Thanks a centillion for ALL the support. I love you all for helping me in so many ways with what I've loved doing for 38 years, making music. This is a human made list of life dives. I'd happily explain any process to you if you wish or are wondering something about TBD. Just ask, I'm Carl and I love sharing what I've discovered and learned especially in the songs themselves. I see songs as one of the finest ways to learn something and bolt your truth to on any subject in a direct yet maybe less imposing manner as your singing it and making it mellifluous. It's hard to sing what you feel is a lie so in my view writing truly honest lyrics and making them songs can be a mini thesis for you on any subject.

No AI here... AI creativity insults my entire existence and the memory of all the dead artists that got their amazing work plagiarised to build current LLMs. I actually hope we legislate to fix that in the future if possible. Delete it and start again in my view. Building an Artificial Intelligence on stealing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Very clever! I'll stick with my actual intelligence thank you very much!
I do respect there are positive applications using AI music and in the future they will hopefully grow to being great for humanity. Right now though I believe there's a responsibility for artists to paint how humans make this world of music so generations that will only experience the world with AI music have a proper reference to retain and grow with. It's a fight for the soul of art until the soul of art is saved. Then we can utilise AI creativity more in my opinion but we have to make it an environment that doesn't wipe out individual evolution evolving music like they have done. A machine doing it for you is more matrix then artist. I had actually collaborated with a couple of AI artists and naively excepted them at face value. I nuked those songs though even though I made them very real... No thanks don't want to spread any of that shit! If you noticed this and saw me as a hypocrite I don't blame you but unfortunately that's the fake vs real guess world we are starting to need to navigate at the moment! Hopefully it won't make me overly protectionist about who to embrace! Something needs to change fast. I've decided to stop following obvious AI accounts and I'm sorry if we have built up a relationship but it's a battle so... and it's not ok the current status quo... and every AI account that.doesnt lay bare what it is you are creating the problem so I can't support you any more and I don't mind if you stop spreading my music either. Thanks human to human but not with AI music as the medium thanks very much!

I am now officially an Anti AI artist... completely! until we are being conscientious about it collectively. Until then it's war to save the soul of music and I'll happily help on the frontline! If you use AI .. Tell people how and why and prove it! Then we can all move towards that consientious use of this new tech. Have your personal reckoning if you use it and don't be a wimp! Whether you are too lazy to become a musician whether you can't or whether you just don't care...  We need you to care please! The kids that will be artists need that care now! Only honesty in how these free tools are used can inspire them to better themselves and for them not to be dumbed down by them! That's the risk. we cancel the want to make it in people!

Thank you if you've read this far. I guess also with my music I do aim to change the minds of people I don't agree with. I'm not an imposing person in everyday life but in my music, the overlord of my existence comes out. What can I say.. I've punted for that perfect universe in words and songs since I was a teen... So thats nearly 30 years ... 25 of which only I read everything... So in that sense this is just normal me... It's all love and it's all for the greater good.
