The second instalment in our three-part Miro Gathering showcase — a New Year’s celebration deep in the native ngahere west of Whangārei, Aotearoa. Here is a pukutākaro b2b from Tāmaki Makaurau’s Dylan Biscuit (@fiddybag) and Jerry Tompkins (@jerryjtompkins). They opened the stage with soul and funk throughout, unreleased material from both artists and daytime Garage cuts. Together they exuded impeccable energy and a tonne of fun, soundtracking the warmth of the day and keeping the audience moving whether they were standing or lounging on a whāriki.

Born in Te Tai Tokerau but brought up in mainland China, Dylan Biscuit (@fiddybag) has found sounds that influence him from all spectrums of his surroundings.
Living in Tamaki Makaurau for the last 5 years, Dylan has been heavily involved with the underground scene through labels such as The Grow Room and Heat Rockers Records. During this time Dylan has seen people connect with all different genres of music through very different mediums, these experiences are translated through his sets where he blends all of this collective knowledge and deliver’s dancers with a familiar feeling translated through a new sound.

95bFM Residency #005: The Big Fresh Collective host Andy AKA AndWahn! 

AndWahn, AKA Andy, is a Tamaki Makaurau-based electronic artist with a taste for big breaks, big bass, and big feels! In 2019, during a bus ride into town, an old mate sent him a YouTube link to an Omar S mix, and from there Andy’s obsession with electronic music began. He started attending the grand church of the OK Listen club night & sifting through Bandcamp, and thus was beckoned forward into the world of breakbeat, electro, jungle, and footmahi. Andy’s recent activity includes his Friendly Potential guest mix, his track “Swollen Grime” on FOOTMAHI 2022, and his colab with Nuance “Clear Blue” on Strange Behaviour’s compilation Uneasy Clubbing. For his BFC radio mix, he delivers us a selection of UKG numbers in the first half, before throwing down for the rest with strictly 160 cuts.

95bFM Residency #008: The Big Fresh Collective host LIAM K. SWIGGS!

Redwood’s favourite prodigal son Liam K. Swiggs is a bonafide local Ōtautahi Lad who loves watching a bit of Rugby League, slamming back a box of Haägen's and ripping a few cones; And when he’s not out keeping the streets safe on Redwood Patrol - He curates the Independent Belfast Based Record label; The Big Fresh Collective.

With a longtime love for student radio and the influence from his parents he formed his taste for music as he dived through boxes of records in his local store, growing up surrounded by Indie Alternative vibes from his Dad Neil & Mother Bronwyn Swiggs, starting off his own journey with a healthy obsession for hip hop, followed by the angsty teen death & black metal years, channeling his aggression back into some hardcore punk, back towards hip hop and eventually winding up in the world of Ghetto Technical Electronic Music.

This mix represents a killer sidestep for Liam K. Swiggs showcasing some of his favourite non footwork/juke music from past, present & future at his native 160BPM tempo - Littered with unreleased tracks and unearthed classics this mix packs a punch like a front rower running off the back fence - Yummy!

Featuring traxxx from; Andwahn, Casper De Wit, Lakeboon, DeepState, Karl Stevens, Grecco Romank, DJ CDQ and a whole lot of edits from Liam K. Swiggs himself!
