This month, marienus had ENKA over at the container. ENKA is a DJ, producer, sound designer and composer for contemporary dance and film. This talented man has amassed the attention of Bunker Records, His Dark Elements and Modal Analysis already, with his sound that combines genres like ebm, acid and proper techno. He has released a collaboration with Extase Urbaine on Public Sex Regime’s v/a “The Pact” and there’s more to come. Definitely one to start keeping an eye on if you weren’t already.

Today we listen a selection by Oscar Goldman aka Defunkt Dialekt. An artist who is characterised by a variety of styles and an unconventional approach to making music.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- Hard question to answer, most possibly it's Steve Albini.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I rarely plan with other labels, most probably I will make some music to put on soundcloud for free or cut the vinyl myself for a short run release to sell via Instagram or email.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I don't listen to electronic music often so I don't have a good answer, my everyday listening is more punk/noise/garage rock, I like Michael Valentine West tho and Valance Drakes always has a nice vibe, recently I like Drasko V for the sound design and TCA records (Yu-Miyashita).

What inspires you now to create music?

- Inspiration comes from experimentation, anything unusual, some sounds I have not heard before, I have a few styles of music I make, with electro I have to follow certain rules and I try to break them, if it still sounds good when broken then that inspires me to make the rest of the song.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- VCV rack and guitar effects, some modular and Reaktor from NI, I like Bitwig for experiments, I use portable recorder and record stuff when I go to the city or forest, for sure I use when I travel some distance.

Atomic-age western meets flying saucer minimal-wave, in this absolute howler. Hand crafted, heavily modified electronics, built by Talaga himself, mangle 50's death rays, fuzzed-out alien lasers, and primitive mechanized robotics, swaying in perfect unison with dusty, wind-swept guitars, sludgy whistling vocals, and rich delay in a symphony of old west psychedelia. So saddle up and hit the trail with a 10 strip in your pocket, a ray-gun at your hip, and ride off into the psychotropic sunset before the fallout blows your way.

BL004 EXPERIMENT ZERO - THE NON ASSAY SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND
Reemerging from the threshold of the cosmic vortex, Black Lodge returns with another sonic artifact that is charged with vigorous chaotic energy, known as EXPERIMENT_ZERO. Accounts of the radiant object’s origin are as mysterious as the raw energy that utters from its core. Following a close study, the guardians of the portal suspect that “Experiment Zero” was a primordial experiment rooted in the slam jack pits and DIY warehouse rituals of ages passed. A sonic dialog constructed of various languages, spanning from roots-house jak to bare-knuckled electro are revealed across the artifact - a revolutionary tale that surpasses the constructs of ephemerality, with a refusal to be ignored. 

Across the release the listener is confronted with fearless acid lines that are underscored by a tone of revolution, and sets the stage for a human voice that switches between modes of a sharp and mutated presence. The power of such sonic objects are both celebrated and rejected by various tribal societies. It is all dependent on the belief structures and traditional histories of its members. Those that belong to the cult of Ron Hardy, Mad Mike Banks, Traxx, and JTC will welcomingly be drenched in its riotous energies. It is for the dedicated, not the light-hearted. 
 
After further research it has been discovered that, Experiment Zero is the product of Dona, aka Dj Plant Texture and Mike Tansella Jr. of Son of Traders, both products of the ancient mercantile city of Bari in Southern Italy. Previous works from these artists have been featured on Creme Organization, Gravitational Waves, Unknown to Unknown, and Illian Tapes. All sonic experimentation was recorded in one take to capture the raw energy of instantaneous collaborative sound craft operating in flux.  Black Lodge’s 4th release is sure to find a space in the music collections of those seeking to travel within the uncanny portals that unforgivingly defy the status quo.
