Anna Laverty is a music devotee.  Her dedication to music production, mixing and engineering has seen her steadily establish herself as one of Australia's finest producers.

Based in Melbourne, Anna has recorded albums for The Peep Tempel, Paul Dempsey, Jae Laffer, Cut Copy, Ruby Boots, New Gods and Eagle & the Worm.

Since moving back to Australia after several years abroad, Anna has been involved in the production and/or engineering of many of Australia's premier artists including Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Kate Miller-Heidke and Paul Kelly - to name a few.

Anna started promoting and booking gigs in her home town of Perth, Western Australia at the tender age of 16 and this became the launch pad for a career that saw her graduate from the coveted WAAPA (Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts) with a Distinction in Sound Engineering.  Embarking on an antipodean migration, she harnessed her entrepreneurial skills by establishing the successful Soho indie club night "Hooked Up" and created her own label imprint of the same name along the way, consistently cultivating her talent as a producer.

In 2008 Anna joined London's Miloco Studios, working alongside industry luminaries Ben Hillier (U2, Blur, Elbow, Patrick Wolf and the Macabees) and Paul Epworth (Adele, Azealia Banks, Foster the People and Cee Lo Green).  Working with these master craftsmen afforded Anna the opportunity to add an impressive roll call of international acts to her credits including Florence and the Machine, Bloc Party, Depeche Mode, Travis and Jarvis Cocker.

Comfortable working with a diverse range of artists and genres, Anna is a dynamic producer whose creative ingenuity is equally matched by her technical prowess.

The Black Site began about 30 seconds after Bam Bam and C.M., old acquaintances from very different parts of the globe (Bam Bam a California transplant and C.M. a Yorkshire native), ran into each other at a Thurston Moore gig that was on that night exploding from a roadhouse in East London. 

C.M. was glad to see Bam Bam, at the time mostly because it was the end of the month and he thought he might be able to have lend of a couple of quid for another pint, only to discover she was very much hoping for the same thing. So, instead, the two of them walked soberly down the street together basking in the ear-ringing afterglow of the almighty distortion king. C.M. told Bam Bam he liked her white leather shoes, she read him a couple of lines from a Ted Hughes poem she’d found, and together they re-discovered the thread of their old bond over hammed-up Scott Walker impersonations and story-telling competitions in the subject of childhood mischief. A couple of footsteps further and they decided they should write some songs together. 

H came over from his native Switzerland to record the band’s first demos, bringing with him a suitcase half full of fancy Russian mics and drum gadgetry and half with limited edition whisky and fine Winstons. Bam Bam and CM quickly decided he was a genius and cancelled his return flight. 

The rest is unwritten. But whatever happens next, it’s bound to involve a lot of language, vast amounts of noise, and at least one overly exaggerated line from ‘Montague Terrace.’
